Dinner parties for certain groups

Following on from the celebrities you could get on with, what people would you have at an exclusive dinner party?

For me; Comedians. Billy Connolly, Eddie Izzard, Peter Kay, Kevin Bridges, and Janey Godley.

Gays. Judge Rinder, Paul O’ Grady, Graham Norton, Boy George, and Julian Clary.

Women. Sandi Toksvig, the Queen, Joanna Lumley, Barbra Streisand, and Jane McDonald.

Sandi T is gay so which guest list should she be on Daddima? She’s very bright and very funny, a welcome addition to any dinner party I would think. I remember her making piles of sandwiches on Number 73 (is that what it was called?) years ago.

If all of those you choose are to be at the same dinner party, would they be compatable? You would have to select them carefully, or some or all would try to hog the limelight and upstage the others. If all are talkers and none listeners, you could end up with pandemonium.

Not sure I'm entirely happy with your classification system, Daddima

Nor me phoenix why not just groups of people.

lemongrove Mon 12-Mar-18 21:30:54

An ideal group ( for me) would be: Alan Coren, Pam Ayres,Bill Bailey,Sandi Toksvig,Arthur Smith,Sue Townsend.

Daddima Mon 12-Mar-18 21:31:42

phoenix, nothing was meant to be offensive, so I’m sorry if I’ve upset you.

What about my ‘system’ are you not happy with? I would be grateful to know, as this is not the first time I’ve been harangued for a post I intended to be light hearted.

Daddima Mon 12-Mar-18 21:38:08

sodapop, As I’ve said before, this was just intended to be a wee bit of harmless chat. Seems like I’ll have to be very careful if I want to post again.

NanKate Mon 12-Mar-18 22:40:16

I see it as harmless fun too Daddima.

Why don’t you add in a few more groups such as people with blonde/black/red hair, pensioners in pop socks. ?

Here are my dinner party guests, Rafa Nadal, Stevie Wonder, Chris Packham, Prof Brian Cox, Lise Doucet and ME.

Chewbacca Mon 12-Mar-18 22:40:48

Not too comfortable with the classification of "gays" either to be honest. I like all the people that you've mentioned OP but the sexuality of my guests wouldn't really come into consideration when it came to seating them around a table. Or not.

Daddima Mon 12-Mar-18 23:34:39

IT’S JUST FOR FUN!

NanKate I was hoping others would add groups like the ones you mention! People who wear specs, singers, politicians, Oscar winners, footballers, etc.
Seems I’ve misjudged the mood yet again.

Let’s not have a dinner party for the “right-on” PC brigade. They an have a cool hipster avocado on sourdough by themselves!
Me? I’d enjoy the company of Terry Wogan, Sandi Toksvig, Victoria Coren-Williams and Rabbi Lionel Blue if the departed are allowed)

MawBroon Tue 13-Mar-18 07:40:50

Coren-Mitchell -Doh!

why oh why is this lighthearted thread being hijacked (as others have been) by the politically correct brigade, forever intent in picking folks up before they have fallen. Leave
Daddima alone. She meant no offence. We are not all raving homophobes you know!

Mapleleaf Tue 13-Mar-18 09:54:40

Oh, and I'd invite,
Sandi Toksvig, Eamon and Ruth Holmes, Clare Bolding, Brian May, Brian Cox and Terry Wogan, bless his soul.

Enjoy your lunch!

KatyK Tue 13-Mar-18 11:05:41

Oo Annie you mention your weather man. I think I'll invite one we have here in the Midlands. He's called Des Coleman and he is a breath of fresh air - if you'll pardon the pun. smile

KatyK, our Derek is Derek Brockway but just Derek the weather man is enough here in Wales ?

Greyduster Tue 13-Mar-18 13:45:06

Perhaps there should be one just for weathermen. Annie one of our weathermen on Yorkshire tv is a lovely dapper young Welshman called Owain Wyn Evans! You can borrow him if you like for your all Welsh lineup! If Michael Sheen is attending can I pleeeese be invited??
