If the Gransnetters walked into your kitchen right now?

My kitchen faces east so the sun shines through in the mornings, which I love. Room at the table for several GNers. It also faces the front garden and the road, so I can see the neighbours’ comings and goings while I’m washing up.
It would seem cluttered to some, but the last thing I would like would be a clinical looking kitchen.
I have storage jars bought in the China Products shop in Hongkong more than 40 years ago and other things I like to look at and which make it feel like home.

There's a smallish table and four chairs in my kitchen. The worktops are littered with, toaster, kettle, microwave, food processor and juicer (DH's, used once). The dishwasher is on, but last night's pans are still waiting to be washed . It is clean, as is the floor. All are welcome anytime.

My tiled kitchen floor is clean enough to eat off. gmelon I would love the uncluttered look so if you fancy rearranging my kitchen please feel free. My small kitchen has recently had a major makeover and it is now part of the dining area so is now quite large.

If any large store ran out of cleaning materials I could help restock their shelves and ditto with M&S and jars of coffee- I have sufficient for a siege.

I live on my own but I have a f/f, and also a separate fridge and a freezer- each is very full, again the siege mentality.

Items like slow cookers are large and take up space. My computer and separate printer are in here also, I do not possess a laptop.

gmelon I think that you would run out of my kitchen shrieking, as would others who like the minimalist look. I go for clean and homely- my cat likes it here.

Only two at a time please and be careful to wipe your feet. Cluttered is the word for my kitchen and most of my house, but at least it's clean clutter.

you're welcome to come and visit my kitchen as long as you're armed with cleaning stuff. I,m girding my loins to clean it later

I would like to invite the architect who designed my kitchen and watch him cook a meal.
Somehow I managed to feed a family of four, but I long for uncluttered surfaces and more storage; no room.

What? Apart from me still being in my dressing gown? Big, open plan kitchen. Usually tidy - I find that exterior tidiness balances the chaos within! ?Kitchen end is pale grey and glossy. Other end has 2 mid-century sofas, lamps, fireplace, books and pictures. Lots of folding doors overlooking garden. You'd be very welcome, pop on over (if you don't mind the dressing gown)

Small but well fitted,on one side is a long breakfast bar with 2 x high rise bar stools which I am perched on using my laptop,large picture window onto the rear garden underneath 2 x cupboards and running on from there is a set of units housing the hob & oven all nicely fitted the tops are kept clear from clutter as I must have clear surfaces with the kitchen being on the small size the kettle & toaster are the only items I have out on the tops.

..... they'd see crates filled with all the 'stuff' that lives in the cupboards. I'm having a clearout - in theory. We have so many glasses, mugs etc that have accumulated over the years (why???!!!). Some were presents from my parents, so I can't part with them, others inherited. None of them valuable, hardly any of them used, so why do I keep them? 'Just in case' the GCs want them. I'm really trying to be more ruthless, but it's not going well . . .

Of course, the other issue is that GN keeps interrupting me

Mine is very tidy ..because I've just cleaned it! It's not always like that because I am a very messy cook. However, I never mind being caught in a state of chaos if I'm in the middle of producing a culinary 'masterpiece'! Some of my friend rarely cook from scratch so I'm very proud that I make the effort regardless of the mess. I do get annoyed when DH dumps his keys etc on the worktop when I'm cooking!

Our kitchen was refitted 20 years ago so you could argue that it is due for a makeover, it is however adequate to our needs. Since Cinders was run over we have acquired 2 sister kittens who will probably be house cats. I know they shouldn't get on the work tops but they often do. We have kettle, toaster, combination microwave, mixer, digital scales, utensil containers, halogen hob. Archway into a dining area with cat climbing things, cat feeding dishes and those infernal litter trays.

Do not possess any means of deep frying partly for health reasons but also because fat vapor destroys the decor. We steam most vegetables.

Various people members have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and obesity so my wife and I watch our diets carefully reducing sugar, fat and salt.

My kitchen is from 1972 so it's not fantastic. But it's clean and tidy right now as I just finished cleaning up in there before sitting down to do this. However, it is a bit smelly
because the drain outside was blocked and I've just been out and cleared it. And I've just poured some of that drain clearing stuff down the kitchen sink and am hoping for no further trouble.

I haven't tidied up yet so some dishes are waiting to go in the dishwasher. Our kitchen was new five years ago but the worktop has blistered and bubbled. We can't get anyone to take the job of replacing it. Two have given quotes then disappeared. The table has it's usual pile of husband's mail on it. He has a study next to the kitchen which is piled with paperwork so he leaves stuff on the table too.

Bare and spartan as a result of being cleared for the plasterer to renew the ceiling. Actually I rather like it. Totally functional with no unnecessaries.

My kitchen is 2 years old so looks quite smart with kettle, toaster, utensils, tea and coffee containers out. It's too small to keep other things out. It's a mission to get food processor etc. out of the cupboard so don't often use gadgets. Weekends there's lots of cooking with sons and grandchildren but no room for more than 2 at a time. All the extraneous "stuff" is stored elsewhere in the house which is quite large.

My kitchen is clean and relatively tidy - just got my breakfast things to put in the dishwasher when I've emptied of the clean stuff, and there's my basket of ironing waiting to be ironed.
It's a fairly busy kitchen with various gadgets out that get used regularly so don't live in a cupboard, but on the whole it's quite neat and tidy, I can't work in a mess. (That's just me, I like things to be where they are supposed to be). Actually, last week I had a good stint of cleaning out and reordering all my cupboards, so that the same types of things are now located in the same place. Makes life easier! Managed to throw some things out, too, which is a miracle for me. ?

Out the clean stuff, not of.

I would pass out ! My kitchen is a tip. My retired husband ( a hoarder) has taken up daytime residence in the kitchen and every surface is covered with his books, paperwork, pens, pencils, paper bags, toiletries, hairbrush, you name it. All this interspersed with teacups in various,stages of use, milk, butter, bread etc - nothing in its place. When I have to go in there to prepare a meal I clear/clean an area of worktop to do so. After 40 years of cleaning up after him I can't do it anymore. Our first grandchild is due in August. Don't really expect anyone to understand this situation as I realise it's as crazy as it sounds. Just feels better to write it down

Very clean, cream shaker style units, all the usual things on top, kettle/toaster etc what else to say? Kitchen and bathrooms have to be clean ( in my book) but am not as fussed anywhere else.
If you are going in there, put the coffee maker on please?There is fruit cake in the tin.?

Sometimes it's even worse!

My kitchen is clean, and there’s room to sit down at the kitchen table for a coffee. I don’t though, I like to sit in a comfortable chair when I have a drink. Still, if it’s the kitchen you want, so be it. It’s clean and tidy when I’ve tidied, less so when Mr M does it. He does have an annoying habit of filing his important stuff behind the toaster, or in the cupboards, or behind the bread bin, or in the drinks cabinet (which doesn’t count on this thread because it’s not in the kitchen.) Sometimes the kitchen is full of family, the lucky ones find a chair or stool to sit on, the others bring a dining room chair in or stand. The cat is there too, making a loud noise, demanding food or strokes. Sometimes the grandchildren are in there painting, sticking, cooking or baking, or drawing and colouring. They are also likely to be racing through the kitchen as they race round and round (our house has a central entrance and you can walk from one room to another in a circular manner) and of course the culprit for getting them to do that will be DS1 who has no children and so really enjoys geeing up his brother and sister’s children.
Right now you will find Mr M cleaning the kitchen, so you may have to wait for coffee, but the kitchen will be clean and briefly tidy when he’s finished.

@cornergran what is it with those pesky plastic boxes/containers, why do they feel it necessary to try and escape whenever you open the cupboard door?? My kitchen is half now half. Stuff on worktops (kettle e/toaster / mugs/mixer etc) reasonably tidy. But there is a box of books "waiting" to go to charity shop or similar, dog bed and bowls on the floor, dd coat over back of one kitchen chair (hook on door just behind) & pile of oh paperwork on edge of one worktop. Reasonably clean but you will find the odd (several) stray dogs hairs

It looks fabulous because everything was thoroughly ckeaned yesterday (but not by me!)

Its an council kitchen, which has had various makeovers over the years. So not the most inspiring.
