I was a DJ with Barnet Hospital Radio for some time and did play the theme from MASH, with vocals. Someone came rushing into the studio to point out it was A Bad Idea.

I want don't fear the reaper at my funeral and my mum had its over. It's sad when people want a particular tune/song played and family refuse surely you should accept their last requests. I have a whole list of songs to be played and no talk/sermon /eulogy at my funeral.

I work on a stroke unit and we tend to have the radio on most of the time. Just before Christmas we had three end of life patients in a row in our side rooms, suddenly every single song played was completely inappropriate . As the third in a row started I was seen jumping up shouting ' Turn that * radio off'. We didn't know if we should laugh or cry
As an aside I was once walking down an acute medical ward singing to myself when I realised 'The Drugs don't Work ' wasn't a good choice

In a maternity ward apparently one mother heard 'Stand and Deliver' by Adam and the Ants at the crucial moment.

We had Comfortably Numb at my husband’s funeral (his choice) but I got my son to edit it so it didn’t play the first line “hallo hallo hallo is there anybody in there” as I thought that could be a step too far!

My mum, aged 86y says she wants the song from ‘Grease’.... ‘I’ve Had The Time of My Life’ played at her funeral service. Bless her, her own mum died when she was only 9yo, she and her siblings then had a truly awful time of things with a wicked stepmother and then her first husband died after 24y of marriage of cancer at the age of 47y. Fortunately ever since then, good things in her life. A second lovely husband at the age of 60y (I remember mum saying to me if you’ve had a good marriage it’s easier to believe in another one), grandchildren and still here to enjoy 2 great grandchildren now aged 5y and 12 months. I so admire my mum’s outlook on life. I’m filling up now though, even thinking of playing that song at her funeral..... ?

We also did have Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye as the last piece of music. Put a smile on everyone’s face
