Which extra room would you like in your house?

I've always wanted a utility/boot/dog room but have never had a house big enough. I've worked in many farms, country houses that had so many facilities and I was always jealous of their rooms, far more than the fancy bedrooms etc. What one room would you like if you could stick it onto where you live now?

A utility/laundry room complete with a lady who comes in a couple of times a week to do the ironing.

We really are never happy with what we have.
I have a decent sized dining room but would have loved it knocking through into the kitchen making a really good sized living area to both cook eat and relax. It will never happen. The dining room has a comfortable leather chair and a tv so I can get away to read or watch on my own.
We do eat in there at the weekend though.

I’m with Merlotgran a boot cum ‘cloak’ room. Not that we have many cloaks but we do have lots of muddy boots, shoes and soggy coats especially in this weather.

A downstairs loo, we have two upstairs but of course that means trekking upstairs when we need the facilities. Our 5 year old GS said we could have one installed in the cupboard under the stairs but where would we put the coats, ironing board, clothes horse and bottles which fill up that space ? ?

A summer house at the bottom of the garden to use as a craft room. Insulated and heated so I can use it all year.

We have three bedrooms all en suite. I would like a separate toilet for visitors, workmen etc. Also a real walk in pantry. But I do not know where we could put that.

A room with large windows and a beautiful wooden floor, to dance in.

A second loo. I would also like another bedroom. A single would be fine.

Ooh got to be utility room.

An upstairs toilet please. My bathroom/toilet is downstairs, in the middle of the night it`s like a safari trek, out of the bedroom, down the stairs, through the living room, then the kitchen and the back lobby, finally, the bathroom, doesn`t do to be desperate!

Rubysong I am totally in agreement. I have a lovely large sewing room but everyone else thinks it’s the kitchen smile

I would love a sewing and craft room so that I could tidy up the dining room and we could actually eat in it.

I wanted a dining room for a few years, when I downsized to my present house. Now though, I would prefer a little multi purpose downstairs room which would house small desk and printer, but I'd also put a fridge freezer and washing machine in and have a lovely smart streamlined kitchen. I would also iron in it.

I've got the big utility room/laundry room/junk room some of you want, the glory hole I can just shut the door on. It's our cellar. We have the washing machine, tumble dryer, big freezer down there, plus a sink, the ironing board, coat rack, shoe storage, vacs and lawnmowers and more plastic boxes and shelves full of junk than you could shake a stick at. And of course my wine rack. smile My long term project is to clear it out to be the playroom it was when our DC were young. At the current rate of progress, the DGS will be at Uni by the time it's ready for them (the eldest has just turned 5).

A downstairs toilet and shower in case I can no longer get upstairs ?

Menopaws Sun 04-Feb-18 21:14:57

Christine, u have horses I believe, so you would totally get it!

GrandmaMoira Sun 04-Feb-18 21:14:42

A downstairs loo.

mollie Sun 04-Feb-18 21:11:16

An office in the garden please...

Christinefrance Sun 04-Feb-18 21:08:14

What Menopaws said. Just what I want too.

whitewave Sun 04-Feb-18 20:49:23

tegan sell it!! More rooms =more cleaning. Bum to that.

Chewbacca Sun 04-Feb-18 20:48:45

Could I ask for a proper dining room? Not the pokey dining/kitchen that I currently have; where we have to sit and eat meals amongst all the detritus of cooking pots and pans. Big enough to sit 6 comfortably and also have a lovely dresser filled with my good dinner service.

Grandma70s Sun 04-Feb-18 20:41:35

I’d love a second bathroom. There are two loos, but two proper bathrooms would be nice.

Tegan2 Sun 04-Feb-18 20:40:24

A garage. I do have a garage but it's still full of my ex's stuff [he left over 15 years ago]. Lathes/tools etc. I want the garage back so I have room to do my upcycling etc.

Menopaws Sun 04-Feb-18 20:09:44

Ah yes but I think I will cheat too as in this magnificent utility room it will house the boiler so create a drying room and there will be space to do laundry and iron and also it would be off the kitchen so would build a walk in larder as well!
I knew a farm with all this plus acres of sink area, work surfaces and loads of cupboards but I'm not kidding when I say this one room was easily as big as my ground floor here!

kittylester Sun 04-Feb-18 20:02:41

I'd love a pantry - we have a big cold cupboard but it's not the same!
