Sudden rise in nuisance calls

Recently, after a lull, I am receiving a rash of silent and nuisance calls. Several seemed to be about insurance for my TV, one today telling me that TPS is discontinued and I needed to "verify " my details. All calls are delivered in heavy foreign accents. If I don't get an immediate response, I usually ring off, but many are silent - presumably coming from banks of automated calls. I live in Suffolk. Is this happening elsewhere at present?

My DM of 84 has had three this week of a morning. It's a recorded voice saying about being taken to court. 1471 rings back but no one picks up. I googled it and it was a spam call. BT have been told time and time again about these and she still gets them grrrrr
