Niggles and smiles.

Niggle , people who ring the doorbell several times while I race up the hall to answer the door ..

Smile , I managed to cut my toenails today for the first time in 5 years

Definitely the abandonned washing up bowl still full of greasy washing up water and the overfull kettle for 1 cup of tea!
A big smile at a neon bright rainbow this afternoon.

Why does mine turn on the bathroom light every morning, even when bright morning sunshine is already lighting it up way brighter than the electric light can? He always forgets to turn it off afterwards too, because the sun is so bright that he can't see that the light is on!

Pittcity I was beginning to wonder how my husband could be in so many places at once too?. Maybe he’s a time traveler.
He has got many redeeming features too but if I was technically savvy enough I’d post a photo of the dining chair in the middle of the room, he’s just gone out and always pulls the chair out to put his shoes on. He then leaves it there.

This my cat - his sense of timing is all askew. When I'm watching something intently (like Spiral) and it's about ten minutes to go to the end when a 'cliffhanger' situation is about to unfold - he appears maiowing for something. I reply, "Hang on a moment puss, hang on." I stand up to show my intention of doing whatever (refilling his food dish, replacing whatever he disapproves of) he requires. I could set my watch by him.
Things which cheer me are seeing the new snowdrops I planted and new shoots coming up, looking forward to daffodils, etc.
Sorry for your loss Gypsyqueen13 I also would love to have my husband back so that I could moan about little things.

All mine have been mentioned, too, and I'm not adding to the list, even though I could, as I'd rather he kept on doing them than wasn't here. Something good? DGS with the Crohn's is doing well on the new medication and the supermarket daffodils look amazing on the kitchen table.

The only niggles I can think of are crumbs on the kitchen worktop when OH is making toast and all the sugar he manages to spill in the small distance from the sugar canister to his teacup! Apart from that he seems to be very well trained

People who leave used plates, mugs etc. on the draining board to the left of the sink, instead of on the kitchen table top to the right. I'm right handed, so I wash up from right to left and my niggle is having to move stuff off the clean draining board .

Smile: introduced myself to newish neighbour yesterday who was out walking his dog. The minute he heard about DH's broken collar bone he immediately offered to come and help with anything that was too heavy for me to cope with, as he is young and strong. Big smile, still smiling inside.
It transpires my big bad bold cat still walks in and out of that garden as if he owns it, and is welcome to do so. He apparently sits down when he sees the dog and waits for it to trot up and sniff him, and he sniffs back. We're talking about a half-grown German shepherd here, so it is nice to meet a well-mannered young man with a VERY well trained dog. Really big smile both on the inside and outside of me.

Niggle OH loading dishwasher wrongly. Putting damp towels in the laundry basket.

Smile, snowdrops, crocuses and periwinkles. Saw for the first time ever a rare Hawfinch in the garden. And some adorable marsh tits. And the doc says I definitely haven't got shingles again.

Te constant refrain from the study- Any chance of a cup of coffee? He KNOWS how to work the sodding coffee machine!
Things get put in the fridge that do NOT need to go in there
He has had the dining room table covered in his hobby stuff since Christmas- Oh I could go on & on!
Luckily he will not be working from home much longer ( I hope!!)
BUT the moon last night was gorgeous & we had 6 long tailed tits on the bird feeder this morning plus a beautiful fox bitch sitting on the lawn sunning herself next to my cat who usually chases her off.

I found and empty toilet roll middle on the bathroom floor. Enough said, he might find it in his lunch box !!!

Mine is the regular greeting I receive in the kitchen when I see the entire contents of the dishwasher, cleaned overnight and removed from said dishwasher but let on top of the work surfaces for me to put away - he can just about manage cutlery but the rest - dishes, cooking utensils, he leaves saying he doesn't know where they go. But I think there is one niggle that overshadows even that and it's when the words "I've done it for you" are uttered when he's talking about putting the bins out, or locking the doors at night - grrr

As I don't have a husband, I'll moan about other women's. Why do men stand in the daftest places in the supermarket when it's busy, oblivious to what's going on around them?

Agree with a couple of other ladies. Husbands dont see things that need doing domestically unless they are pointed out to them. Most dishes go in dishwasher, but the sink could be full of baking trays, good glasses waiting to be washed etc. and they could sit there a week and DH wouldnt notice! And things put on the side of the stairs ready to be taken up by the next person going. They'd sit there forever if I didn't take them. I once put toilet rolls in the middle of one of the steps and my hubby stepped over them when he went upstairs!

Funny true story for you. When my daughter was a student she shared a flat with five boys. She had to nag them to keep the kitchen clean. One boy had left it in a tip and she told him to clean up, or else. Later he called her to inspect his work. All was good except for a coffee cup on the table. She asked why he hadn't washed it. He replied "it wasn't mine, I don't drink coffee". Male logic!

Todays niggle, H eating his morning toast or lunchtime sandwich and not holding the plate so that when he gets up from the armchair it's full of crumbs.
Todays smile D's ex has sent her pics of DGSx2. They have changed so much in the 12 mths since we last saw them. He's letting her phone them this evening too

They all put every light on no matter how bright a day. No one opens the window or puts the fan on whilst having a shower.

?Gorgeous sunshine today

Walking in London this week, people always expecting me to be the one to move out of their way even though I walk with a stick, or they walk into me! No other niggles. Seeing the first daffs and primroses.

Niggle - my husband cutting himself a slice of bread and then putting the board away with the crumbs still on it.
Smile - the sight of the spring flowers coming out, so welcome after a dreary winter. Just waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can get out there.
