We’re a bit ahead in time here and I’ve just made OH tea. Lamb chops, mixed salad leaves, beetroot and home made coleslaw. I’m going to have kippers on toast later. Sometimes both of us struggle for ideas so what are you folks planning to eat tonight ?

Daddima Thu 25-Jan-18 12:58:33

Haggis, neeps, and tatties for me ( with perhaps a wee dram!)

Scampi chips and coleslaw and I have lashings of tartare sauce with it. Always share tea with daughters on a Thursday as SIL plays football and doesn't eat until afterwards. My turn to provide so will take it all over later when granddaughters are home from school. We'll wait for DD2 to get home from work and eat when granddaughters have had their bath and gone to bed. It's a nice space to have a big chat together and catch up. Last week I made a beef casserole and DD1 put dumplings with it when she reheated it.

We are having pork belly with cauliflower cheese and baby potatoes.

Liver, bacon and onions in a rich gravy, with mashed potato and cabbage. We like to have it with piccalilli. It was made by DH, who has been doing all the cooking while I have had my wrist in plaster. Plaster came off today so I hope to be back to normal soon.

Should have made a Mediterranean vegetable casserole, but instead had a bacon and mushroom omelet as sort of ran out of steam.

I know the feeling.

As I did some gardening today I pulled some beetroot and we had roast beetroot with red onions and garlic (with a couple of sausages and mash thrown in).

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 20:06:20

That sounds delicious

Jalima1108 Thu 25-Jan-18 20:07:22

I ate too much
but DH knocked my glass of wine over so I only had a sip so I feel quite virtuous.

MawBroon Thu 25-Jan-18 20:14:08

Jalima you have my full permission to pour yourself a socking BIG wine - you probably need it by now. smile

I am as usual trying to lose weight and went onto the nhs diet site and stumbled across the cutting down drinking site. The amount of calories I am consuming over the year by having just 1 glass of largish red a day was enormous, so I haven’t had any for 2 days now sad

I do love a glass with my meal though.

Jalima1108 Thu 25-Jan-18 20:29:03

Thanks Maw
whitewave that's how Nigella claims to have lost all that weight - but then again, we don't know how much she drank hmm

I like a glass (sometimes two) with a meal, rarely drink otherwise. I was rather shocked when I went out yesterday for a pub lunch with friends - my friends all had a lager and I had a soft drink because I was driving. My soft drink was far more expensive than their lager.

We had piping hot meat and potato hash.

Auntieflo Fri 26-Jan-18 11:25:33

Leek and ham pasta, and fresh fruit jelly to follow.

Tonight we are having Chicken supreme in marshal and cream sauce with small crispy roast potatoes and fine beans stirfried with tomatoes and garlic.

It's what's for lunch that's exercising my brain!

Kittye Fri 26-Jan-18 13:17:30

Chicken kievs, mini roasties and cauliflower and broccoli cheese.

M0nica Fri 26-Jan-18 15:38:46

For lunch we had a stilton and sausage risotto with green beans, then stewed plums. Tonight we will have a salmon and broccoli fishcake, grilled tomato and fresh fruit.

phoenix Fri 26-Jan-18 17:08:46

blush Morrison's " slam it in the oven" curry, prawn buhna, chicken korma, tadka dahl, aloo ghobi saag, £7 (you get 2 mains & 2 sides) could have has rice instead of one of the veg dishes, but we prefer it like that ^ with some garlic and coriander naan.

I am a very bad Phoenix, but it is Friday!

Proper cooking for the rest of the week though!

paddyann Fri 26-Jan-18 17:24:35

Jalima1108 Fri 26-Jan-18 20:00:22

Quite plain compared to yours harrigran, which sounds lovely.
Fish Friday lightly smoked salmon fillet, grilled tomato, mashed potato and peas. DH, of course, had chips.

Jalima1108 Fri 26-Jan-18 20:01:03
