Fruit cake or apple pie with Wensleydale cheese (it's a Yorkshire thing)

Good dark chocolate, on its own or with chilli/lime/ginger

My homemade soup with crusty bread & Lurpak

My DD loved Ketchup butties

Crystalised ginger/ginger in dark chocolate

My comfort food - possibly quirky in some people's eyes - is semolina, or if I'm after something savoury, buttered toast with cooked tomatoes on it. (The tomatoes take 2-3 mins in the microwave, whilst I'm toasting and buttering the toast)

As all indulgences have to be satisfied immediately, I couldn't possibly wait for jelly to set!

1/ Banana and blackcurrant jam sandwiches
2/ Avocado and prawn cocktail with grilled lamb
3/ Cheese and banana sandwiches
4/ Chocolate and cheese

My hub says they are all weird

I like Kraft Cheesy Pasta, and take supplies to my English family ( along with the Stornoway black pudding and Lorne sausage )

And, talking of jelly, my friend makes jelly with half water, half vinegar, and puts vegetables in it for salad, cucumber in lime jelly, carrots in orange, beetroot in raspberry, etc, etc.

Blue cheese- any blue cheese just lots of it. Preferably with buttered crackers. On a diet at the moment so no crackers!

Miss Adventure, only yesterday I was thinking that I haven't had a curried mashed potato toastie in ages. Thanks for the reminder today!

Hartley's do a sugar free jelly powder in sachets, various flavours. Yummy with lychees.

Tinned fruit with lashings of whipped cream that you buy ready made in a spray can.

Berliner Pfannkuchen (German doughnuts) dripping jam that I buy sometimes when I do my household shopping on that side of the border.

Blackberry jelly and single cream served with thinly sliced bread and butter. Also hooked on home-made custard tart and recently, Waitrose clotted cream rice pudding pots. Heaven.

My favourite food 'porn' ( you'll understand if you look on YouTube) is Almazan kitchen mac n cheese. It doesn't get any better.

Have just made bread pudding from all the crusts I found in the freezer it's delicious hot and crusty. Now I know why I haven't made it for years as I've eaten a huge slice and going back for more ! !

Hot toast with marmite and mashed banana on top.

Picklet beetroot and salad cream sandwich.
Fried soda bread with marmite and banana.

Plain chocolate digestives topped with extra mature cheddar cheese. It must be cheddar though.

Dianic my DD makes nut butters in her food processor. You do need to have a food processor with blades very low, almost touching the base - she's got a Bosch, it's very good. I think all she does is keep processing the nuts until they are very fine, then keep going until they turn creamy. Not labour intensive at all, just takes a little while. You can toast the nuts first to warm the oils in the nuts and make them easier to blend - this also improves the flavour of the butter.
