First TV programme memory

This thread has brought back memories of so many favourites.
Has anyone mentioned Dixon of Dock Green ?

Evenin’ all. Probably wouldn’t go down well today MD but it was enjoyable in its time.

Muffin the Mule is my first TV memory I think, but there was also something called Whirlygig. Not sure exactly what it was but it had someone called Humphrey Lestoq in it and possibly a Mr Turnip (?) ... does anyone remember that?

Magic roundabout was my earliest TV memory as it was off to bed as soon as it finished! I loved The Clangers too especially the soup dragon (today’s version isn’t as good ?) I also enjoyed crackerjack and loved Blue Peter and Jackanory?

Tales of the Riverbank, Andy Pandy, Bill & Ben and the Woodentops. I was especially fascinated by Spotty Dog! Anyone else remember the Tufty Club? As I recall it was all about road safety?

I can’t remember what year Z cars started but I was probably 14 or 15 or 16.

It was the Z cars tune I loved and the police cars.

It was the song ‘Johnny Todd he took a notion, for to cross the ocean wide, left his love, his only true love weeping by the Liverpool tide’ a great tune.

January '62 - September '78 apparently. We were young teachers with no tv and a kind married teacher invited us to her home each week to watch it. Really loved that signature tune, still do, that and the Sharpe theme tune both send shivers down my spine!

Somebody at the Sunday School I went to at the time had the bright idea of setting hymns to TV themes. The one that has stuck was set to the Z Cars theme, and it's all I can think of when I hear that tune! "God is good, he comes before us, so that we can sing his praise, giving thanks for all his goodness (goodness), as we learn his wondrous ways".
