morethan I’m glad to hear your DiL is responding to treatment, and thank goodness for your GD’s presence of mind - sensible girl, she deserves all praise. You certainly have three lovely grandchildren. Hope your son is comfortable after his treatment - he has a lot to deal with indeed.
Hope your bugs don’t hang around for too long Maw; there is so much going round at the moment.
The weather has done us no service today. The snow held off until we went out this afternoon, but we had a nice dinner at a local restaurant and then went back to DD’s for coffee, by which time their road was like a skating rink. We were lucky to get as far as their drive. Another car was not so lucky and gave up. It is everything I hate about the winter.

Morethan your GC are delightful and good that one had the presence of mind to do the correct things.

Like everybody else I hate snow and ice- it was only bright sunshine here.

Maw a couple of days looking after yourself will not go amiss and Hattie will not mind you being at home.

corner you are fortunate that Mr.C does not need a map to find the kitchen and he has obviously discovered that you have running water there as well as the bathroom which does help.

Been at hospital most of the day with H.
He had 2 falls, rang ambulance at 10am, arrived at 12 noon.
Arrived hospital 12 :45.
Absolute chaos. H on trolley in corridor moved from pillar to post. Eventually after many tests ,x-ray, blood tests diagnosed with UTI and sdmitted.
Left at 7:45 with H still in A&E, no beds.
They had at least got him into a bed but still in cubicle.
Just been told he is on a ward, rang and told no, he is still in A& E, asked them to check, yes actually he is there.
Explained for at least the 6th time he has Alzheimer's, ward had no idea, I am worried sick that he will not receive the appropriate care.
Told to ring aafter 9:30 tomorrow.
Will get no sleep tonight.

Ann, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. My thoughts are with you.

Hope you’ve felt better as today’s gone on maw, with a bit of self administered pampering. Funny how our children don’t always pick up on the subtle hints we drop!

gd With 14 lively youngsters at a trampoline party I think you got off lightly with only a nosebleed! One set of gd’s have a trampoline in the garden, my heart is often in my mouth watching just two of them plus a very small dog on it! That young lad probably needed a bit of normality with good pals in the middle of such great sadness at home. I’m glad you were spared too much exposure to the cold especially at your advanced age (ducks for cover)
It was certainly jolly parky round our neck of the woods today, bright blue skies which lifted the spirits but bitterly cold with it. And a very pleasant change from the awfully wet weather we had when visiting dd4 yesterday and the hideous drive home last night too. We went out and about a bit, further north today, and enjoyed a tasty lunch in a favourite haunt but I have to admit that the planned walk became more a brief stroll. It was so windy I could barely keep my hand steady to take these photos!
soop that’s a very handsome looking fox indeed. Very different to the scraggy looking urban foxes whose mating antics kept us awake in our London days.

Goodness, ann, you’ve had quite a day. I hope by now your husband is tucked up in bed in a ward with staff understanding of his condition so you can get some sleep. I’ll be thinking of you. Oh Annsixty what a day you have had.
If you are awake to read this might I suggest that now is the time to get some rest as you do not need to be listening out for him.
Put yourself first for a change. (I do know whereof I speak)

Just dashing in to wish Ann and her DH well. Do take this time to recharge knowing he is in safe hands. Round here the Alzheimer's Society has a hospital service so you could try ringing your local society. The hospital worker, if there is one, should visit the patient and 'advocate' for them.

Back later if I get chance. We have 6 dgc here for a 'top it yourself' pizza tea. Dd suggested make it yourself but back tracked when she saw my face!!

Thanks all, I was told to ring after 9:30 when ward round should be over.
Physio and IT supposed to be seeing him today to try to get him mobile, he was very bad yesterday.
After sitting on a hard plastic shell for about 6 hours I feel I need it as well!!

Ann what a day you had yesterday, at least H is now in safe hands. You must take advantage of his hospitalisation and try to relax at home.

It is very cold here today, I am waiting for the sun to melt the frost from my car!

Maw I hope that you are feeling marginally better- Hattie will understand because she knows how important sleep is to her.

Ann what a horrible day that must have been for both you and your poor DH. I hope you managed to snatch a bit of sleep. Let us know how he is when you find out, and take care of yourself. ??

I’ve come into the kitchen to thaw out. I’m frozen to the marrow. Just been on an errand of mercy to take DD3 to the doctor and it is cold out there. Brrrr!

ann I am sorry to hear that your husband is in hospital. He's in the best place and will get the appropriate treatment. In a way, it's a stepping stone of sorts. His dementia will be taken into account. Any extra support that you will need on his return home will be addressed. Look after yourself and please keep us updated.

Maw Continue to relax and keep warm. If you enjoy ice skating then you are in for a real treat. I was blown away by the Canadian competitors. I so want to be as athletic and graceful and accomplished... that's not going to happen.

Had to share this with everyone. We have a local nature reserve where the robins sit in the bushes waiting for people to walk past 'bearing gifts' and will eat out of you hand. This has never happened to me before [never been in the right place at the right time with the right food] but yesterday it happened. Annoyingly my grandsons had walked on ahead with their mum and didn't get to take part. It was so magical! I did give some food to a lady who was stood next to me so she could continue with the feeding, and she was enchanted also. Sorry for everyone who had a rotten weekend ....

Tegan2 Lovely! I would enjoy sharing your encounter with the canny robins. We have two robins in our garden. They are the first birds to welcome my husband when he tops up the feeders. He says that he may try to "bond" with the pair. He loved your post.

Yes; whenever any work is done in the garden the robin appears to 'help out'. I only noticed the robin at the nature reserve because the lady and her husband were stood on the pathway laughing at two robins on either side of the path sitting in bushes having a 'stand off' with each other. I know they're bolshie little birds but if they weren't they wouldn't inter react with hoomans the way they do. Must go and give 'my' robin some mealworms today.

Apparently they think we are wild boar digging over the ground when we garden. I make sure I get rid of all the hairiness on my chin, so I think that’s unfair!!
