If the above shop has lost their Royal Warrant, will HM now have to get her bras at M&S?

I just remembered the assistant let me try on an amazingly beautiful bra costing hundreds of £s for fun. It was an utterly exquisite construction of fine lace and embroidery. She said you would be surprised who wore those beneath severe or very enveloping clothes so you would never guess the hidden frivolity!

I like Miss Mary of Sweden. I follow their measuring instructions and buy on line. They are average price and very comfortable with lots of designs. Colours are a bit limited but that doesn't bother me

I play Russian Roulette buying a variety of brands in TK Maxx. Well known brands for less than £10 which I pair with pants from M&S cotton multipack. I want to be able to bung them in the washing machine without worrying.

Yup, Prima Donna - it's as if someone was walking along in front of you carrying them on a tray.

Yes Rigby and Peller are expensive, but cost per wear are much better value than the majority of bras that I own. They just fit so much better, are far more comfortable and your shape changes, so the look of outerwear is improved.

I have four sports bras, but I prefer to wear my R&P bra for workouts, especially Zumba.

I'm currently saving to buy a couple more.

Hmm, I have lost 7 kilos( about a stone) in weight since November and have about 8 kilos to go. I think that my treat when I reach target might be a visit to R&P as I have 2 weddings to attend later in the year.

My ex husband always bought me Rigby and Peller underwear sets for Christmas. Not had any since we divorced ?

I promised myself a trip to Rigby and Pellers in London a few years ago when I had saved enough money. I was fed up with being 'measured' by so called experts and still not finding really comfortable or well fitting bras. I fulfilled my dream when I was able to take part of my pension, and now I was going to spoil myself.
Ladies, I can tell you that it was money WELL spent.
The lovely Lady looked at the bra that I was wearing ( minus blouse ) and announced that it was completely the wrong size. She asked me what size I had been wearing and shook her head. The fitters do not use tape measures, they do not need to believe me ! The Lady then disappeared to collect a couple of bras, and put one on me, adjusting the straps as she went.
Bra perfection is all I can say.
My 'assets' were finally where they should be instead of desperately trying to make friends with my waistline ???.
The size that I had been wearing, as suggested by a 'qualified fitter' was 34DD.
The bra size that I actually needed was in fact 32E, and what a difference it made.
Yes they were expensive, but my goodness, I came out of that shop feeling like a million dollars, and still do ?.

To be brutally honest who cares! I don’t suppose her majesty does either!

henbane Fri 12-Jan-18 18:53:38

I have been thinking must get proper bra fitting as following bi-lateral surgery my boobs are completely different in size & shape. Can a good bra disguise this, or would I need to go for the bespoke option? (£300 is way out of my price bracket!). M&S declined to fit me as they didn't have a post-surgery specialist.

Also, I am too arthritic to reach behind my back, does anyone know if they do any front fastening ones? (I've tried doing them up at the front and wriggling them round but can't get my arms through when I've turned them)

I have it on good authority that Her Maj is on an economy drive because it’s costing a lot to ‘do up’ the Palace.
Apparently, she is being sent an assortment of Primark’s finest brassieres, and the firm confidently expect to receive the Royal Warrant in the very near future

Shizam Fri 12-Jan-18 20:52:09

I buy bras from them. The fitters are amazing at assessing your size without measuring and then finding appropriate bra. They last for years, look fab but are expensive. Think I paid about £80 for last two. They’re still going strong 10years later!

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 12-Jan-18 20:54:50

henbane somewhere like R&P is probably an ideal place to get good advice. The £305 is the price to have a bra made especially for you. R&P does have bras in its Prima Donna range suitable for mastectomy clients, so it probably has other brands too. If I were you I would get in touch with R&P and tell them your circumstances. I looked up the contact details for you -

I think it's a good idea to buy your own knickers to match expensive bras because the cost of matching pieces is ridiculous.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 12-Jan-18 20:59:22

PS My guess is that Her Maj has enough bras to outlast her, but in any case she probably buys exactly the same bra every time. She does that with her shoes and bags, so I reckon she applies the same principle to other things she uses.

Jalima1108 Fri 12-Jan-18 21:08:01

You never know if you may lose or gain weight, although she does seem to keep quite steady these days.

Jalima1108 Fri 12-Jan-18 21:08:53

Thanks Wilma, I will take a look.

Jalima1108 Fri 12-Jan-18 21:11:44

hmmonly one and they look just the same as the boring M&S ones and four times the price.
Nicola Jane is good.

Menopaws Fri 12-Jan-18 21:39:33

Ratners all over again, big mistake

henbane Fri 12-Jan-18 21:42:46

Thanks Wilma - I live near London so could get there for a fitting when we go to an exhibition or something - I'll ring or email next time I'm going.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 12-Jan-18 23:20:36

Jalima I got more than one when I searched for 'Mastectomy', but I admit I don't know anything about bras after a mastectomy.

henbane just wanted to say I haven't tried R&P myself, although I would love to sometime. I should be asking them for commission with all the positive things I've said about them! Seriously though, I did find some less than positive reviews, but they were definitely few and far between. wink

Maybe you could let us know how you get on (if it's not too personal). smile

maddy629 Sat 13-Jan-18 08:08:14

I have a bra from R&P in Cambridge, my husband bought it for my 50th birthday. It is very comfortable and I love it. It was £90, very expensive for a bra.

yogagran Sat 13-Jan-18 10:38:24

I'd just like to ask all those complaining about the price - how long do you expect your cheaper bras last? I've used Rigby and Peller for some time now and I expect my bras to last for years without losing their shape and support, much longer than M&S or others

grannysyb Sat 13-Jan-18 13:37:41

My DHs sister lives in Desborough! Next time we visit.........
