Rigby and Peller

I took a very dear friend as my treat, to R&P, when she felt ready after her breast cancer. She was delighted with the results, although their range from the non-bespoke stuff was quite limited at the time, in my view. But I guess it is as much as being graciously pampered as well as the bra/s you end up with.

As a result of breast cancer I have odd sized and shaped boobs. The left is a B/C and the right is a DD. People saythe don't notice the inbalance but I am aware of it all the time. My dream is to go to R&P to be fitted. I have been losing weight but the smaller one seems to be shrinking at a faster rate than the larger one. When I am happy with my weight it will be Rigby and Peller here I come.

Sorry - just seen that you have already been told about Desborough! The bra sized swimming costumes are fantastic value unless you buy one every time you go! I must have a dozen

There is a factory shop for R&P in Northamptonshire which I have used but they also do Fantasie which are a better fit for me. Amazing fit and last for ages.

yogagran Surely how long a bra lasts depends on how many bras you own, fewer bras will get washed more often, so won't last as long as one that is only washed and worn every so often.

One of my daughters bought her wedding dress secondhand (so sensible, it’s only worn for one day)
Then she went to Rigby and Pellor for her bra to make her look her best. It cost more than the dress!

Rigby and Peller are absolutely the best. You go there, are treated like a duchess and come out with the best fitting bras ever.

I first went there when I had bought an outfit for my first DS's wedding. Went along with the dress and shoes and was fitted with the bra that looked and fitted right. I don't buy their bespoke ones ~ and usually pay between £30 and £50'ish (I don't go for glamour; my tastes are quite simple. Comfort and the right amount of hoiking up are my priorities).

Its a nice day out with a friend. Train journey, lunch and mooch around Cambridge. What's not to like?

My cheapos last well enough. The last time I had to dispose of one was when the washing machine decided to swallow one of the underwires. In fact, I think I've still got the slightly bent wire and lopsided bra somewhere, waiting for the day I get round to repairing it.

I'm wearing Bravissimo bras that are well over 7yo. I expect them to last as long again and hopefully longer.

My DHs sister lives in Desborough! Next time we visit.........

I'd just like to ask all those complaining about the price - how long do you expect your cheaper bras last? I've used Rigby and Peller for some time now and I expect my bras to last for years without losing their shape and support, much longer than M&S or others

I have a bra from R&P in Cambridge, my husband bought it for my 50th birthday. It is very comfortable and I love it. It was £90, very expensive for a bra.

Jalima I got more than one when I searched for 'Mastectomy', but I admit I don't know anything about bras after a mastectomy.

henbane just wanted to say I haven't tried R&P myself, although I would love to sometime. I should be asking them for commission with all the positive things I've said about them! Seriously though, I did find some less than positive reviews, but they were definitely few and far between.

Maybe you could let us know how you get on (if it's not too personal).

You never know if you may lose or gain weight, although she does seem to keep quite steady these days.

PS My guess is that Her Maj has enough bras to outlast her, but in any case she probably buys exactly the same bra every time. She does that with her shoes and bags, so I reckon she applies the same principle to other things she uses.

I think it's a good idea to buy your own knickers to match expensive bras because the cost of matching pieces is ridiculous.

henbane somewhere like R&P is probably an ideal place to get good advice. The £305 is the price to have a bra made especially for you. R&P does have bras in its Prima Donna range suitable for mastectomy clients, so it probably has other brands too. If I were you I would get in touch with R&P and tell them your circumstances. I buy bras from them. The fitters are amazing at assessing your size without measuring and then finding appropriate bra. They last for years, look fab but are expensive. Think I paid about £80 for last two. They’re still going strong 10years later!

I have it on good authority that Her Maj is on an economy drive because it’s costing a lot to ‘do up’ the Palace.
Apparently, she is being sent an assortment of Primark’s finest brassieres, and the firm confidently expect to receive the Royal Warrant in the very near future

I have been thinking must get proper bra fitting as following bi-lateral surgery my boobs are completely different in size & shape.Can a good bra disguise this, or would I need to go for the bespoke option? (£300 is way out of my price bracket!). M&S declined to fit me as they didn't have a post-surgery specialist.

Also, I am too arthritic to reach behind my back, does anyone know if they do any front fastening ones? (I've tried doing them up at the front and wriggling them round but can't get my arms through when I've turned them)

To be brutally honest who cares! I don’t suppose her majesty does either!
