Exchanged contracts on the bungalow we are buying and signed contract of sale for this house at 11.00 am this morning. So its official at last!
This comes after four months of very stressful negotiations. The chain we are in collapsed twice- however we are nearly there and move house on the 19th of this month.
we are moving from Yorkshire to a village called Embleton in Northumberland. Had lots of holiday cottages there over the years and did lots of research, so know what we are going to.
With the benefit of hindsight I wish we had made the move a few years ago. We are both 73 and the last few weeks have been very tiring. WE are moving from a large 5 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom bungalow. So have had to get rid of at least half of our possessions.
Now that its all signed up, its a bit scary. However its our time now and family will have to make an effort to come and visit us instead of us doing all the running. (Well thats what I am telling myself) however still feel a bit guilty.
So OH and our dog are looking forward to being on the beach every day, and there's loads of things going on in the village. So wish us good luck wont you.
Just thought I will get to Northumberland Coffee mornings.
On the last of the packing now, thank god.

Best of luck with the move and I hope you'll be very happy in your new bungalow.
It must be good - being near the coast!

Best of luck Kupari !

We downsized to a bungalow and moved 3 months ago after a very stressful year and lots of messing about.

Can’t recommend it too highly. It’s been fabulous ! I hope you find it so also!

Many thanks for all your good wishes. When I finally signed the contracts yesterday I was so excited and relieved at the same time- just had to tell someone!
Will let you know in a few months how its going.
Thank you again for your kind messages.

Great news and hope you will all be very happy in your new home! ?

Good luck! We move from a 4 bed roomed house to a 2 bed roomed apartment in July so my advice if you need any?; read Marie Kondo's book about decluttering, it will help massively with the clearing out! Also, get as much help as possible with the packing up and employ a reputable removing company as it's worth every penny!

It’s a lovely part of the world. If I didn’t live where I do now, Northumberland would be my next choice. So much history, sea and islands, lovely people.

Best of luck in your new home ?

Artyfarty Thu 11-Jan-18 20:36:39

I wish you all the best in your new life.

Best wishes for your new home and life!
We downsized 18 months ago and have never regretted it, especially the downsizing of housework. We enjoyed the challenge of the new garden.
We have kept our Holiday house on the coast, which is now larger than our main residence!

Very best wishes for a smooth move and much happiness in your new home. Like Luckygirl, we moved 18 months ago and the garage is still half full of not-yet-unpacked boxes - too busy enjoying our new abode to worry about them! So, take it easy and don't feel compelled to rush at it. It's only "stuff" after all!flowers

callgirl1 Thu 11-Jan-18 17:18:22

All the best for your move, I love Northumberland, almost as much as I love Kintyre.

Fennel Thu 11-Jan-18 17:14:46

I know Embleton too - lucky you! I'm sure you'll soon get over all the stress.
I've been looking in rural Northumberland too.
I know how it feels - we're still in the middle of it, but at least haven't had to experience chains breaking down.

hildajenniJ Thu 11-Jan-18 17:10:29

I love that part of the Northumberland coast. I am envy. We would love to live at the seaside. Good luck with the move, and every happiness in your new home.

Auntieflo Thu 11-Jan-18 17:09:31

Well done Kupari, and best wishes to you in your new home. I would quite like to move, nearer to town centre, we are only a mile away, but it would be so convenient. DH is stuck on being here, so a move is probably not on the cards just now. We will have been here 50 years this Oct. Oh my, they will have to prise us out, if and when.

mollie Thu 11-Jan-18 17:06:04

Congratulations. We did the move 18 months ago and it was very stressful and tiring so I can still remember the relief when it’s all signed and sealed. Hope the move goes smoothly.
