Happy new year to each and everyone of you...on a positive day as today what do you wish for in 2018?

Jalima1108 Mon 01-Jan-18 19:25:18

A peaceful year with a resolution to so many of the troubles in the world.

However, today has brought bad news familywise so I hope this is not the start of a bad year
sad

Jalima1108 Mon 01-Jan-18 19:25:59

But - I am usually a 'cup half full' person so I must cheer up.

I just want my DiL's wish for more time with her children to be granted and that her condition is stable so she can have a year with no treatment being needed.
I hope 2018 is a better year for those of you in difficulties.
Happy new year to you all.

For Every Gransnetter. I wish you all the wonderful things that you would wish for yourselves and your loved ones ( not forgetting our 4 legged friends )
May the New Year bring you health, happiness, love, peace, and hope. ?? x

Antonia Mon 01-Jan-18 20:58:13

To all gransnetters, happy new year and I hope everything you wish for is granted to you. Especially those wishing for better health for themselves or their loved ones. World peace would be fantastic too but not holding breath on that one.

wishing for at least some relief for my D who has multiple conditions and is in constant pain, also a way to help the GC cope with it as you can see the fear in their eyes when they watch their mum,I do all I can to help but will continue to look for anything that might relieve her pain.Of course a safer world is something we all want and to that end I'd like to see nuclear weapons removed from my area...we live in hope

First find your postitive day NellieM.

OH dear I find this hard.
I sort of want to try and think more positively this year.
As Christmas drew near I was feeling really dreadfully down.

Oh was worrying me he is increasingly failing to look after himself. Messing up his body clock letting go awry and that is very damaging to mental and physical heath . I must not mention this.

Am I going to get more of that all next year? I really need to get my brain calmed down and under control.

Any good mindfulness practioners on here?

starbird Mon 01-Jan-18 23:39:58

I would like to see world leaders talking to and helping each other instead of posturing and making threats.

And families sticking together and looking after each other like they do in other cultures.

And big companies and billionaires giving back some of their wealth in taxes or other ways.

And seeing an elephant fly!

Synonymous Tue 02-Jan-18 00:05:32

starbird I think the elephant flying is the most likely on your list! sad However! If we all resolved to do something extra or something just kind/helpful for somebody else and we all passed it on it would make a huge difference - especially if we just asked the recipients to pass it on when they were able to. You never know! smile

starbird Tue 02-Jan-18 01:02:53

Good idea Synonymous

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 02-Jan-18 02:26:34

Every year at Christmas I count my blessings that all my close family and friends have made it through the year safe and sound. My wish is that I can be thankful for another year on Christmas Day 2018. I'm not sure if I can cope if something goes wrong.

Christinefrance Tue 02-Jan-18 08:49:36

I agree Starbird & Synonymous pass on a kindness and your list is the same as mine,
Personally for our family to be healthy and happy, for a friend with a terminal illness to have a peaceful end to his life.

My song for this year is “ what the world needs now is love, sweet love, it’s the only thing that there’s just too little of” ?

SillyNanny321 Tue 02-Jan-18 10:23:32

I would like to wake each morning with no pain & all the grotty little things wrong with me gone! That is my selfish wish but i want to find enough money from somewhere to pay for my DS & DiL' s house so that DiL can give up work & spend more time with her children before they grow up much more. Hate seeing her so stressed because she has to work to help keep the roof over their heads. Must go in the garden & see if that money tree has grown yet Lol!!!

henetha Tue 02-Jan-18 10:33:06

World peace is top of my list. There are some powerful scary men out there now.
Also there is some worrying stuff going on in my family and keeping me awake at night. So I hope it is resolved.
Personally, I am very lucky and don't wish for much else other than my continuing good health for a bit longer yet, please.

Legs55 Tue 02-Jan-18 10:39:30

I can only echo Antonia's post.

I'm a "glass half full" person, so I will continue getting the best out of life. I hope my DiL gets some respite from the pain of her numerous health problems but know this is unlikely. flowers to all GNers

Skweek1 Tue 02-Jan-18 10:45:00

Happy New Year to everyone. Would wish all of those with sick family members (especially those with carer responsibilities) - I'm carer for DH and DS, but have my own health issues as well (we all support one another, but over Christmas was at the end of my tether, not feeling well but also really suicidal - normally can keep that side at bay, but the stress of the season almost broke me - and went into meltdown mode!). Wish you all a really good 2018 with family issues resolved, better health for all, happiness. For my lovely DS to find the girlfriend he dreams of. Then for a less selfish and more understanding world - peace, stability, more generosity and kindness would make the world a much better place. In short, whatever you wish for you and yours and a better world view.

Witzend Tue 02-Jan-18 10:46:57

Just for a peaceful and healthy year for us all. Baby Gds was in and out of hospital last year with bronchiolitis - so bad twice that he was in the ICU for a week. Fingers Xed he is now growing out of that.
Would also really hope for very hardworking and uncomplaining son in law to get a less exhausting (even for him) job, where he is not obliged to spend so much time away from home.
Oh, and for both very little Gdcs to sleep better at night, so that dd and SiL can also get a bit more much needed sleep!

pollyperkins Tue 02-Jan-18 10:55:56

Like others my top wish is for world peace and for Trump to be relieved of his presidency before he does any more damage. Secondly hope for continued health and happiness for all my family. Thirdly hope all of you on this site who have health and family problems have as good a year as is possible under your circumstances. Same for all my RL friends.

sarahellenwhitney Tue 02-Jan-18 10:57:47

nanaK54
You are no different to many of us who would put our loved ones at the top of our list for 2018.To those who constantly, boring, boring, make reference to the US president I say get things into perspective and stop whinging about what is insignificant compared to that which is what the world is constantly being threatened with from another part of our globe.

annsixty Tue 02-Jan-18 11:04:36

So sorry for all with problems.Skweek I can identify with your post, I am not feeling suicidal, TG but I have been at breaking point with my H and feeling I'll myself for about 3 weeks now. I just have to carry on though with no he!p and no understanding from my H.
What is somuch worse for me is the lack of any meaningful conversation. All I get is the weather in it's many forms.
Is it raining ? Has it stopped? Is it raining harder? Is there any wind. For a whole morning.
Try to keep on top of things , hard I know.

radicalnan Tue 02-Jan-18 11:15:45

I wish you all good health and happiness, and for those you love. Especially for the mother wanting more time with her children, may she experience miracles.

Poor Mr Trump, I wish people would leave him alone, why they pick on him above all other maniacs elected to try and make sense of the mess we are in, defeats me. If he were out of office, nothing would change save for some other poor soul being rat packed for being the source of all the ills in this world.

The only real changes we can make are within ourselves.

newnanny Tue 02-Jan-18 11:20:34

2017 was rather a good year for my family. I retired early, my dh got a promotion, ds passed lorry driving test and no major health issues. I hope we are as lucky in 2018. I do wish my ds would find a nice partner to share his life with.

Musicelf Tue 02-Jan-18 11:20:58

I'd love a far less aggressive world - perhaps world peace might be too much to wish for, but that would be the ideal.

I'm hoping that my brother's various - terminal - illnesses are slow in their progress. I hope that my DH has better health, and that my DD continues to be healthy and happy in her life. I hope that my DGD has a safe passage through teenage life!

BRedhead59 Tue 02-Jan-18 11:22:03

Goodbye Trump and May and hello Europe again
More effort from us all regarding our environment - single-use plastic, global warming, protection for endangered species around the world.
Avoidance of food waste
All of us taking more responsibility for our health whatever our age
Removal of University fees
The building of council houses which can later be bought as before and the money used to build more - common sense to me
That will be a start!
