Hi all!
When I started this thread on January 1st I did not post what my 2018 dearest wish could be as we did not see it happenig..Ds has just phoned to say the trip they plan in June from Canada is going to be that will be home for good...after 7 years ...so all my grandchildren will be here.I am over the moon no Gc here at present but with there return we will have 4 ( new baby on way April).....it’s going to be a busy year!

mollie Thu 11-Jan-18 22:54:45

Sorry, I think I misread your comment confused

mollie Thu 11-Jan-18 22:52:43

mcem When I said I was someone’s —- I meant daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, employee, roles that demanded a lot from me. Things have changed in recent times and I’m putting me first for a change.

Anniebach Thu 11-Jan-18 13:33:39

Thank you OldMeg x

Nonnie Thu 11-Jan-18 13:09:42

Thanks OldMeg It is nice when someone cares and I consider myself very lucky that only one person I know has said something inappropriate. One said nothing and has been cut out of our lives. Unfortunately several of the organisations I have had to deal with have been truly appalling but I have stuck to my guns and written letters of complaint which, in some cases, has worked. Who would have believed that HMRC don't have a bereavement department?

OldMeg Thu 11-Jan-18 13:05:13

Nonnie & Anniebach and anyone else suffering recent loss of a child flowers I wish I could offer something more.

Anniebach Thu 11-Jan-18 12:39:57

All I can hope for is it will not be the nightmare of 2017 , no more loss

Nonnie Thu 11-Jan-18 12:20:11

All of the above.

Also that no other nasty surprises jump out and hit us. We can't cope with losing anyone else in the family.

I will try to look for the positives, there are so many in my life but I also look for help in overcoming the loss of my son and starting to get on with life again. To get through a whole day without feeling such raw pain would be a good start.

mcem Thu 11-Jan-18 11:44:01

Don't agree that everyone needs someone (in the romantic sense).
I have family, friends and independence.
However I wish you well although Mollie 's plans appeal to me more!

mollie Thu 11-Jan-18 11:36:13

What I am looking forward to in 2018 is striking out and gaining some independence. It’s a silly thing at my age but I’ve spent all my sixty years being someone’s (fill in the blank) and putting them first. I’m still most of those things but it’s time to put me first. My days are free for the moment while OH is still working so I’m going to pack them with interesting and fun things!

My new year wish is purely selfish, as in it appatains to me. I would like all the polictical views like world peace and an end to global warming and things, but purely on a personal level, the thing I would want most is a partner. I have been on this dating site since about June this year. I have had to sort between the wheat and the chaff, know what I mean? but I think I might have finally found the one for me. Its early days but we are getting on v well. I would recommend dating sites to anyone. You have to be careful which one you go on, but they can be the best thing that might have happened to you. No-one should be on their own. I do a lot of other things like volunteering and drama and things, but since I started on this dating site I think it has changed my life. Everybody needs someone don't they? Don't you agree? Love, hugs and kisses xxxxxx - BIG COL

Peace of mind

pauline42 Tue 02-Jan-18 22:41:04

My 2018 wish......
May I be happy
May I be healthy
May I be safe
May I be loved.

Sheilasue Tue 02-Jan-18 18:12:00

Happy new year to you to.
Don’t ask for much really only that family and friends keep good health and the world become a better/place

Charly Tue 02-Jan-18 16:54:47

I have a somewhat 'eccentric' wish - nay ambition- and I hope I have the courage and initiative to follow through with it!

Diddy1 Tue 02-Jan-18 15:43:38

A Happy New Year to all on GN.
My wish is that my family will have a happy, healthy and successful 2018.
And yes, that Trump may be relieved of his presidency as Old Meg has said.

Morgana Tue 02-Jan-18 15:10:22

Let's hope all our wishes come true! But if not, then please may we have the strength to see us safely through the trials.

bella2 Tue 02-Jan-18 14:43:21

I just wish for nothing bad to happen, after the horrible few years I have had. I can accept nothing good happening as long as there is no bad.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 02-Jan-18 14:37:12

A lottery win, world peace and extremely good health would do it for me.
And good health to you all too.

GabriellaG Tue 02-Jan-18 14:30:45

I'd like a resolution from the energy Ombudsman re my disagreement with British Gas which (unbelievably) has been ongoing since 2011. Yes...that's 7 years next month and my next step is taking them to the County Court. It's been back and forth more times than all the balls over the net at Wimbledon. I've not been with them since Feb 2013 but they don't like to lose face. Well...we'll see.

pollyperkins Tue 02-Jan-18 13:24:23

Agree with BR Redhead.

Lilyflower Tue 02-Jan-18 12:05:55

Well, now I have read about all the poorly Gransnetters and their spouses I hope they recover well in the New Year.

Otherwise, the only thing I really want for the future is not to have Jeremy Corbyn and McDonnell destroying the economy and asset taxing me out of my home.

cassandra264 Tue 02-Jan-18 11:46:05

Agree with everything you say on the wider issues, BRedhead59. Can't improve on those!

On a more personal note, for 2018 I am wishing my DS happiness and stability in his new relationship. Seven years ago he was made very unhappy when his then partner found someone else. It has taken him a long time to learn to trust again and to feel hopeful once more about being able to commit.

glynis1234 Tue 02-Jan-18 11:42:44

Just a few lines I threw together Happy New Year all x

glynis1234 Tue 02-Jan-18 11:41:41

As the new year is about to begin
Wouldn't be good, if we could all grin
Because our troubles were over
And we are all feeling bolder
So peace is restored within
