Engagement presents?

What to get dd as an engagement present? They've been together as a couple for 9 years a lived together for 5. Didn't know that one was expected and now feel wrong footed.

We had engagement presents back in 1970 - mostly cut glasses - which we still have as we don't use it!

I think a lovely photo frame for a commemorative photo is nice!

No engagement presents for us in the 60’s and as for our wedding presents we were given a blue plastic washing up bowl, with brush, a blue brush and pan, long handle broom a bit of Tupperware and tea towels. Woukd have loved a toaster but they were far too expensive. . , main present from My mum-was a carpet sweeper. We saw that as pretty normal at the time and expected no more.
Or was it just us who pulled the short straw?
However its different times so perhaps a photo frame or some nice wine or bubbles glasses.
Would warn that some engagements last forever, we know someone who has been engaged for nearly 10 years with no wedding date in sight. But they did have a baby....

I had engagement presents back in the 70s, as did others I knew, and they were items ready for setting up home as we didn't live together. It's rather different now that people are already living together.

Us too. We were given all sorts of things like butter dishes and really towels for my 'bottom drawer'. Of course we didn't live together until we were married! Much more exciting than today's parties and holidays which are weddings and honeymoons these days. Old fogey alert!

We had engagement presents in 1972. I remember getting a brass plant pot, table cloths, stainless steel tea pot, sugar bowl and milk jug, tea towels, and towels. These things meant the world to us as we had nothing , and hardly any money.

Engagements presents in late sixties. Pillow cases, towels,pillow cases, tea towels, pillow cases, table cloths and more pillow cases.

If I go to a party where the couple already live together, I give a gift voucher. Easiest way. We got allsorts for our bottom drawer but we hadn't left home yet. Going back a bit haha

We had loads of pyrex which i used up to about two years ago and then decided enough was enough and it all went to the charity shop as it took so much room up in my cupboards and I treated myself to what I liked and love using.
