That hat

What did other people think of Meghan's hat? Not keen myself.

Hm999 Wed 27-Dec-17 10:33:23

I thought she looked chic but subtle. Loved the colours. Liked the hat.

The browns didn't look like a mirror of Kate, so they looked like they complemented each other in the photos.

And yes, all 4 looked very happy

I do think Kate would look better with her skirts a little longer. The short dresses kind of detract from her position as a fairly senior royal and I think they're a bit yesterday, aren't they? Also I am not keen on visible knee assemblies in grown women other than on the beach etc. Not many of us have tidy knees once we are past youth.

That hat and the dressing gown coat smothered her. She almost disappeared amongst the tall Windsors The designer world will be at her disposal, she should listen to them.

Didnt like it she looked like a flight attendant on Qatar airlines, her hair blending in with her hat, wrong colour! Sorry to sound picky, I like her otherwise, wrong fashion advisor that day Meghan.

I like the hat (but then I like hats in general) I think it would have looked better with her hair up. And I love the boots.

sarahellenwhitney Wed 27-Dec-17 10:21:51

That and the dressing gown coat smothered her. I doubt she is more than 5.5 with heels

IngeJones Wed 27-Dec-17 10:21:19

I got the impression Meghan had deliberately downplayed her glamour so as not to immediately step on Kate's toes on their very first appearance together. Clever lady!

I like the whole outfit, it was understated and she looked lovely. I thought the style of the hat suited her. I also liked the camel coat, what she was wearing was suitable for the occasion.

I liked the hat thought she got the outfit just right my DH who is not a follower of fashion did comment how much he liked Harry's coat.

I was pregnant at 36 and was certainly viewed as a bit long in the tooth by many people at work, in my family, in general. It’s not old but it’s not exactly young either. But then I accept that I’m old now even though many of my peers seem to think we’re still middle aged in our mid sixties grin. Now that is delusional.

AlieOxon Wed 27-Dec-17 09:54:26

,,,,,pity anyone who didn't see the picture wouldn't find it through this thread!

I saw it, and thought how happy they looked. Didn't even notice their clothes.....

lemongrove Wed 27-Dec-17 09:49:19

Oh yes Jalima I forgot that old saying about a red hat ( or a fur one, or a fur coat!) tchgrin so perhaps an emerald green one.
We do tend to forget that Kate and Meghan are as old or older than our DD’s.

Anniebach Wed 27-Dec-17 09:01:10

I was younger than her when widowed with two little ones. Certaintly not teenagers .

It is the plea of she didn't know she had to wear a hat etc which does seem such a weak defence. She is a woman of the world, her close friend and her sister both said she knows what she wants and goes for it.

Iam64 Wed 27-Dec-17 08:46:51

So was I Jalima (pregnant at 36). I was a young woman at that age and so is MM.

Jalima1108 Tue 26-Dec-17 23:09:00

and I thought I was mid-thirties at 36

Jalima1108 Tue 26-Dec-17 23:07:49

Like most of us grannies, I was the mother of teenagers when I was that age.
Um, no!
I was about 2 months pregnant grin

NanKate Tue 26-Dec-17 21:44:44

I agree Nannyls I thought Meghan looked fab.

I would quite like to be holding Harry’s hand, he looks a lot of fun to be with. I digress.

Nannylovesshopping Tue 26-Dec-17 21:05:25

I thought she looked utterly fab, chic, stylish and drop dead gorgeous!!

glammanana Tue 26-Dec-17 20:46:16

I'd like to be able to wear a wrap around coat and look as good as she does in it and I just love the hat although I agree a red or cream version may have been a better choice.

NannyTee Tue 26-Dec-17 20:44:20

Oh well we can't help who we fall for.

Sunny82z Tue 26-Dec-17 20:39:06

I thought the suede boots were fab, the cost hit the right note and I am guessing she didn't realise she would have to wear a hat and indeed as somebody else has suggested had to borrow it.

I wonder....the last time a prince of Royal blood married an American divorcee.....it didn't end well.

NannyTee Tue 26-Dec-17 20:31:08

Good point variant.

varian Tue 26-Dec-17 20:20:30

I wish Harry and MM well. It can't be easy to be in the public eye, but why is shd called a "young woman"? She is awoman in her late thirties. Like most of us grannies, I was the mother of teenagers when I was that age. She is as old as Harry's mother when she died -hardly a young woman, more of a worldly wise divorcee, perhaps just right for Harry.

NannyTee Tue 26-Dec-17 19:55:24

I don't see what the big deal is. I don't look at clothes. It's the person beneath that matters.

vampirequeen Tue 26-Dec-17 19:51:03

She has to right to wear whatever she chooses.
