Dad's brother Les is 95, a dementia sufferer. Les and Dad are coming to us Christmas Day. Our cousin Sarah usually brings Les up on the day and picks him up after. She is away Her first Christmas away from home in years. So my brother Tom (lives with our Dad) was told by Sarah to go pick Les up. Thats OK bit of a moan from Tom but will do!
Went to see Tom and Dad today. Tom is incandescent. There is no carer for Les tomorrow, so Tom has to sort Les and his medication then bring him to us. Tom refuses to do it. So instead of getting organised here for other family as well as Dad and Les, Hubby is going with Dad to get Les ready, bring him here then back home after.
Tom's excuse is he works. Sarah is retired. Tom works three days a week for four hours a day. Apparently sorting Les for ONE DAY a year is too much.
I am disgusted with Tom. This could be Les and Dad's last Christmas with us, and to make an effort to make sure the older ones are happy is all that counts at the moment.
Hubby and I will make the effort, running around, caring and have our Christmas in a couple of weeks time. Just us, away for a weekend visiting friends. We have time on our sides, Les does not.
