When having a sort out in preparation for a house move a friend said "you don't possess anything which is no longer useful - it possesses you"

My mother always used to say before you do or say anything think 'how would that make you feel?'. It really works!

‘Don’t knock chuck a brick up the passage’ said by my mum often if we were dropping subtle hints about something.

‘You get a lovely view from the moral high ground’

'Two wrongs don't make a right' was my mother's mantra and I do find myself saying that quite often too

I could have done with reading bellasnana before I went out yesterday- Don't let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace.

Can't think of one that hasn't already been said but this one is new to me and one I'll try to recall when appropriate from now on.

hilda I thought that advice was given to husbands about their wives!
