Plastic

I'm not telling you what's in the drawers on mine, Annie. Suffice to say, it's a fire hazard.

The chestnuts have gone stale so the knife, nutcracker and bowl have all gone. In their place are a DVD and a cd. I also forgot to mention the finial for the curtain pole, which can't be screwed into place until I've finished I haven't even started yet shortening the curtains.

Bluebelle Sometimes as gifts the solid shampoos etc are wrapped in cotton squares which can be reused.

I m suddenly getting anti too and keep trying to find alternatives it’s blooming hard though isn’t it it’s everywhere not just in wrappings but nearly every item I own seems to be plastic I m starting with buying that solid shampoo someone on here pointed out I like that idea and hope it isn’t wrapped in plastic I don’t use plastic bags for shopping but all the black bin bags are plastic I wish they d start putting drink in glass bottles maybe with a take back deposit like the old days

Puzzle books, paper and books are on the lower shelf

Your coffee table sounds not unlike mine, Anniebach! Mine is mostly paper, though. Letters, magazines, books, also a scarf I'm crocheting. And a (china) bowl of chestnuts, a nutcracker, a kitchen knife(!) and a pair of scissors, the latter two with plastic handles. At least they're not one-use plastic, I guess.

Just looked st my coffe table - must clear it - jug of plastic pens , plastic landline phone and mobile phone, tv remote, sky remote, Ensue empty bottle, base and support for magnifier, money bags from bank, iPad, mouse, handle of scissors, folder holding pedigree papers of puppy, rennies in pouch, room thermometer, small box I keep hand strappings in, not going to look for more too depressed

We are able to recycle some plastic here but I do agree with you. I've just bought some paper straws because of the guilt about having had plastic ones before.

I recently read that almost all plastic that has ever been made still exists, 80% of it in landfill. Dreadful!

And cardboard - I know we recycle that but we have loads of it every week to fold up and stuff in the box. I particularly hate the plastic that surrounds items which you can't open - even scissors are difficult and it ends up cutting you as you force your scissors and fingers down the cuts!
