Cool that made me , but I’m glad the mystery was solved! If it makes you feel better, in the past I have got in touch with a company to complain about non-delivery of something I’d ordered, only to discover the said something in one of the bedrooms No idea how it got there!

However, my Problem is Solved !!!!

First I need to tell you that the said cushion cover was the second one ordered. The first covered a particular branch of the forces relevant in which he'd served, and because I was quite pleased with it I had ordered the second cover relevant to another branch he had served in.

When going to do some wrapping a couple of days ago I was only able to find the first cover, had thought they were both together. Hence the several all out searches for the second cover.

I am almost embarrassed to tell you this......
Today I received an email confirming that the (second) ordered cushion cover has been dispatched and was on it's way.

What can I say. I certainly would never have found it. But I do have some very tidy drawers, towel shelves etc.

Never give up hope - isn't St Anthony also the patron saint of lost causes?

I write where I have put presents and things I don't want found on the back of the kitchen calendar in shorthand as I am the only one in the family who can read it. It drives them all MAD

My Mum has mislaid two hair pieces I ordered for her. She put them away until my next visit and now can't find them. I've told her she's going to get the fright of her life when she accidentally puts her hand on them! I can just see her thinking she's felt a mouse or something worse!

Coolgran I would start looking in one place at a time and then do something else in between. I find that sets my mind to thinking of where it could have ended up.

Searching for my glasses only to find them on my head so I wouldn’t lose them!

It's so annoying when something you clearly remember as a fact, turns out not to be, Marydoll.

I spent a considerable amount time today looking for a letter I received from the taxman a few days ago. My husband helped me search every inch of my craft room, to no avail. Then I remembered, there was no letter, it had been sent as a email. I couldn't bring myself to enlighten him.

The Wonderful man lost some CD's he needs for a job he's doing and we had the house up searching for them. I was very relieved when he emailed from work today to say he'd found them tucked away in his desk - at work!

Could it have edged its way into a pile of papers, Coolgran?

St Anthony is kept pretty busy in my house!

Coolgran, I'm a huge believer in things "turning up", especially when you stop looking!

I've found St Anthony pretty reliable! Although he was a bit slow over the spare bulbs for the Christmas lights last year, they didn't turn up until the summer.

You will find......just perhaps not in time for Christmas St Anthony is patron saint of lost things.

This morning I couldn’t find one of my tiny hearing aids. I’m very careful with them because my cat has to knock to the floor anything which isn’t nailed down.
I searched under every piece of furniture and all the kitchen appliances, dreading having to empty the Hoover and found it under the last thing, the dishwasher.

Coolgran65 Have you found anything in a strange place recently - you know the sort of thing, like a bottle of liquid detergent in the fridge, a book in the freezer, or keys in the fruit bowl? If so, try looking in the place where that item is usually kept, in case you mixed the two up! Or maybe that's just me

Under the bed? I usually stash things under there and have often found them weeks later having pulled out what I think are all of them only to have missed one. Shows how often I clean under there! Good luck!

Coolgran, have you checked the fridge and the freezer? I know it sounds barmy but I've found misplaced items in there more times than you'd believe possible. No idea how they get there unless there's some invisible tractor-beam device pulling them in.
If my lost things don't turn up nice and chilled, then I go to bed and try to completely forget about them before I sleep and then, sometimes, I dream the answer to the mystery.

Delivery envelopes do have a knack for getting underneath things and they're often gray and not readily visible. As Skinnylinny suggested, say a prayer to St. Anthony (always works for me too).

BTW Coolgran65.....Your post reminds me of a time when my middle child (an avid snooper and by then old enough to know there was no 'Santa'), began uncovering all my hidden presents before the holidays. The other two siblings got wind of it and very soon bribes were being exchanged to extract information. It wasn't long before DH got into it too.

The following year, I preemptively kept their presents locked up in my car, wrapped them during school/work hours and then stashed them right back inside the trunk (boot) of the car. I even kept my car keys with me, just in case!

Then my DH's family (travelling by plane) announced they were coming to stay with us the week of Christmas. . Early on Christmas Eve, my BIL and SIL wanted to go Christmas shopping so I offered them my car and gave them the keys (not thinking clearly).

For the better part of the day, our Christmas tree was bare (no presents). When at the last minute, we were finally able to bring them out and put them underneath the tree, the look of relief on those dear children's faces was priceless!

Oh Barmey your comb sounds wonderful.

We do a stocking for each other every year and so far I have only one thing to go in it.... a comb! not any old comb but a beautiful carved bone one and I am keeping it in my handbag so I can remeber where it is. Now I just need to get some more presents to fit in his stocking.

I sound even sillier Skynnylynny If I lose anything I jab a safety-pin into a cushion while saying aloud "I pin the Devil!" (I do make sure I can't be overheard. The family already think I'm losing the plot!) Can't be sure if it always works but at least I feel I'm trying.
