I must confess that I love putting an unwound metal coat hanger down the plug hole, twisting it around and pulling out a load of gunged up hair! Disgusting I know

Using work surfaces for preparing food would would result in very badly cut, scratched, damaged work surfaces. I use glass and plastic boards, however I do get the point, pets are very unhiegenic.
I go yuk seeing children with snotty noses eating all types of food while sitting in buggies, it is all going in the mouth at the same time.

Hair in the plug hole makes me heave. (Luckily our DDs with their long hair have left home so it never happens now).

Oh, yes, those cooks you see on TV who place the food on the plates and fiddle about to make it look artistic (or something) and who are not wearing gloves? Why aren't they?

Regarding picking up dog poo: Picking up your own dog poo is ok believe it or not. Picking up COLD dog poo - therefore not your dogs - is definitely YUK!!
The thought of eating snails makes me think YUK!!

Watching the cooks on Masterchef or Bake Off touching their hair then back to the food.

Dog poo makes me go yuk. In fact, it makes me retch, if I ever come into close ish contact with it.

None of those things make me particularly go 'yuk'. I don't do any of them, but its not a big deal to me. Oh, and I wouldn't like a dog licking my face but I wouldn't be tooo disgusted if one did. One that I knew, of course.

Actually, does anyone actually prepare food directly on the kitchen work top? I don't think I ever have!

My cats come in through the kitchen window, and step on to a towel placed on the work top especially for that purpose. If they are in during the day when I am at work, I have no idea where their dainty little paws might have been.

Having said that, I don't prepare any food directly on the worktop, instead I have a variety of boards that are used for different things, i.e. veg, chicken, other meat etc.

Even so, I spray with Flash with Fairy and wipe down all the worktop every day, at least once and more often if Mr P has been cooking (he tends to splash when he stirs)

I think I operate a hygienic kitchen, no one has fallen ill to date.

In the Australian soaps, they regularly take a carton of ice cream from the freezer, sit sharing it, 2 or 3 spoons going into it and into mouths, then when they`ve had enough, it goes back into the freezer for the next person. Yuck!

Totally agree about the dogs and cats. How can you let cats walk on work surfaces, just think where they might have been. I also can't abide dog poo on a beach - or anywhere else, come to that. If I see a dog owner getting out their little plastic bag I avert my eyes. How can they do that? Mind you, that's much better than leaving the poo on the footpath or wherever I suppose. So long as they don't then hang it in a bush.

My immune system is very poor, so have had to re-educate myself.

I agree with all the above posts regarding dogs and cats and the Eastenders one, but in addition to all of those, I do a great big "yuk" when I watch some of those tv programmes that show you badly neglected homes that are heaving with rubbish and dirt, dead mice in kitchen drawers and filthy loos - yuk, yuk and double yuk!!

A waiter or waitress lifting a glass from a tray by handling the rim of the glass where the recipient will drink. Hold it by the base of the glass, please!
