A yellow star which is part of the lighting 'arrangement' and a fairy underneath which has lasted many years yet somehow still looks comparatively new - unusual in our house!!!

When I was little I was given the fairy after Christmas and we were told she was celluloid ,so very inflammable.
One of my brothers promptly threw her into the fire to see if that was true. Oh, how I cried!

My angel was made by my mum. It's a plastic kids dolls (not Barbie, think chunkier) with dark hair. Mum dressed her in a pink tutu made from crepe paper. She has silver accessories around her waist and hair made from elastic tinsel parcel ribbon and has a silver wand in her hand! I love her! She's kept in her own box & cared for gently (she's 20+ years old!) ❤

An angel carefully stored and repaired over 40 years and always the last thing to be put on the tree. We also have many of my DC's toilet roll and cotton wool decorations and are now adding those made by grandchildren. Not exactly elegant but lovely memories!

A big sparkling golden star with, placed just underneath, a thoroughly tatty and adorable pipe cleaner fairy , wearing a tulle dress and tiny tinsel halo. Made by my daughter when she was about three years old. She's mid thirties now and has always insisted that it's a fairy and not an angel despite the halo. "Well there are some good fairies aren't there?!"

I have always looked for a fairy doll. When I was a child I was always given the fairy after Christmas so I suppose we must have had several tho other decorations went on for years. However, these days I can only find angels.

Ive got a big star too heavy for my little tree so its listing a bit. My fairy is tied on by her neck with string legs straddling the branch under the big star. Never mind i like it

At the top of my Christmas tree, is ... about 6 inches of new growth . I bought it from Lidl last year (it's a biggish table top one, about 1M tall), stuck it behind a tree fern on the patio after Christmas 2016 and hadn't been anywhere near it for 11 months. When I remembered about it yesterday and brought it out, it had not only survived, but had lots of new growth.

So I'm very pleased with it and shall decorate it with all new baubles this year. It's a real tree in every sense of the word.

I havent anything on my little tree as its an optic one,its the 2nd year i have had it,but never thought of putting anything on it until reading here.
