What's on top of yours?

Great aunt is no longer with us sadly, but we remember her every Christmas because hers was always the first card to arrive and then the fairy comes out to take pride of place on the tree.

Ours is the same age too!

A lovely doll dressed by an elderly great-aunt for our DD 40 years ago. She used offcuts of net curtains and is our pride and joy.
We have the same M0nica, but unfortunately I had to make her a new dress and wand a few years ago so she is not totally original. She sleeps in her own box in the attic for most of the year.

I have an angel who was once pristine and lovely but who is now just about OK. I tried to make her redundant one year but the kids nearly killed me and so on she goes in her bedraggled finery (Bit like me....)

A sort of fairy angel hybrid - bought the year I was born... so 1951 !

A large angel that my sister bought for my eldest son for his first Christmas. We joke he has to stay living at home, even though now 31, so the angel can go on top of our tree.

My daughter made an angel out of a toilet roll middle with cotton wool and paper and lots of glue. Face drawn on with felt tip. It took pride of place on top of our tree until I went abroad to work when she was 22!

I am nostalgic about fairies on top of trees as they remind me of my childhood. Having said that I've bought rose gold baubles this year and have found a rose gold star as a topper.

A rather tarty looking angel with blonde hair, blue eyes with long eyelashes, and a short skirt. But I love her and her little wand.

A head that belonged to my sister, let me rephrase that,
when my sister emigrated to oz in 1971 she left me her christmas decorations, including a beautiful angel.
The fairy/angel has a lovely face and hair and when it gets too tatty I remove the head and redress it, depending on whats available in my bits box, sometimes it has wings sometimes not. Just reread my post, my first line deserves a double yuck!!

I prefer an angel - saw a Santa on one at the weekend

I made a wooden peg angel with lace wings when my goddaughter was born so it is now nearly 45 years old and still going.

A 45 year old fairy in a lace dress I had to make when the original disintegrated, tied to a tinsel star.

I know no-one loves a fairy when she’s 40, but hey! it’s Christmas!

I bought a new Angel last year from John Lewis - long gold dress and feathered wings. Expensive but utterly lovely and I can't put her away until GD has played with her, cuddled her and carefully laid her in the tissue paper in the box. Until then we had a celluloid angel which I bought in 1965 but she just fell apart. My son was very upset but she had to go. I have promised GD that when we don't have Christmas trees any more I will give her the new angel.

Has to be a star to match the decor on the tree!

I inherited a little fairy, whose dress, to be fair, is still quite pink, and her eyes are still blue, but she is by now about 70 years old as my Mum bought her at a local market (no longer in existence for many a year) just after the war to go on the tree for my sister to enjoy. I won't part with her, she's a tradition, and full of happy memories for me, even though she looks a bit on the small side to sit atop my 6 ft tree!!

A star these days . Like so many others my angel/fairy fell apart.
