In less than two weeks time I won't be 'Longdistancegrnny' for a while, as DD, SiL and family are all coming here for a month over Christmas and New Year, so I shall become 'Hands on Granny' to a 3 year old and 5 month old twins! So very exciting here! My other DD and S have not met the babies yet, so I am even more excited on their behalf!

What a wonderful gift you gave to that young man by your ongoing hospitality. Bless you Grannyactivist!
My excitement is Christmas this year, which I thought would be just DH and me as he is now very disabled and we couldn’t travel to my eldest daughter’s home as usual, but youngest DD’s husband says they will bring Christmas to us - he will do all the cooking - and the bonus is we shall have their two boys aged 8 and 10 so an exciting time to enjoy!

With all the doom & gloom this story warmed my heart. If you hadn't taken this young man in he wouldn't be the man he is today.
So very pleased that you and your whole family played such an important part in his life at such a crucial stage. He now is repaying that love in coming to see you all whenever he can.

What a lovely story G.A. and so wonderful that he keeps in touch. I am looking forward to seeing the grandkids next week. The littlest one is six months so changes a lot between visits. I feel very blessed to have grandchildren.

Jaded old fogey that I am, I don't do "excited" any more - if I ever did.

However, I have managed to get a little excited that all my sons will be together at Christmas. Not with us, but in America, but I'll be with them in spirit.

And, like Chewbacca, I may be made redundant soon, which will be a blessing so shortly before retiring.

I'm looking forward to our choir Christmas program, carol singing around the village, carol singing at village restaurant, and very lively carol singing in a very noisy bistro/bar were we sing our whole program with diners joining in and we all have a joyous and noisy time, that makes my Christmas. ?

I too foster a son. He is 11 and lived with us for 6 years now. He has just learned to swim butterfly and I will see this at Swimming Club this evening. I hope you have fantastic time Granny Activist and I hope my foster son will always remain in contact with us.

GA this was a lovely bit of reading. Thank you so much for sharing and uplifting my day hugely. Exciting for me doesn't compare but since this is not a competition I will throw into the ring a prospective visit tomorrow to a restaurant I've fancied for a while with a dear friend. Even more exciting is that my elder son is coming to visit for a few days. I pick him up from the station on Saturday evening. Can't think of much else that would induce me to miss Strictly!! Life is good indeed.

Off to the UK to see my 4th grandchild for the first time and apartment hunting .

Lovely story GA. I'm excited, not only because I've recently arrived in Oz to stay with my middle DD and her family, but because DD and I are flying up to Alice Springs this weekend and travelling on the Ghan from there to Darwin. I've always wanted to do it and its an early 'special' birthday present from me to to her and an even earlier one from me to me! ??

How lovely GA. I don't have anything specific as such, but I'm excited about Christmas coming up, despite not being "of the faith". I just love all the tinsel and tat, the trees and cards, the Christmas carols and all the excited children. Many of the homes where I live decorate the outside in the most amazing ways. I love walking around admiring their displays with DH and our dog. I've enjoyed doing the cards and am halfway through shopping. Usually I detest shopping but everyone just seems to be in festive mode, even tho it's still November. First time I've felt like this in Years. Added huge bonus is that I have Christmas off this year ? have lots of problems and issues but I've just decided that I am going to take and enjoy each day and make it the best I can. Got to finish cleaning up and sorting because tomorrow the tree is going up! Even bought some new devices, small but just lovely. Also tried my hand at making some and have turned out pretty good! Granny what a fantastic story and a testament to you and your husbands care and commitment. No wonder you are excited - I hope you have a wonderful evening with your son. We are getting beyond excited as our son is coming to stay for 6 weeks in a fortnight together with Dil and our 2 little grandsons. They emigrated 4 years ago before the first one was born and this is the first time they've been back. We have had so many toys and children items loaned by friends and relatives the little ones will think Santa has been already.

I'm excited as our son and gs are coming to stay for a few days this friday and we shall be meeting his new gf who has made him the happiest he's been for a few years.

Well, I'm a bit excited because I'm hoping to hear that I will be made redundant shortly. The redundancy payment that I'll get will tide me over very nicely to when I get my SRP, which has been put back 3 times now. Fingers crossed!

I am very excited because DD2 is expecting her second baby in six weeks, 9 1/2 years after her first . I didn't think she would have any more and her first DD is also very excited about having a sibling. I am looking forward to lots of cuddles.

My special news will be arriving next April and May with the arrival of a new DGC & new GGC so I will be all cuddled up during those months for sure.

GA, what a lovely story about your Taiwanese son. It says so much about you and the WM. I'm not sure that 'excited' is the right word but I'm looking forward to seeing DS2 and his two DSs, 10 and 12, when they come here for the weekend before Christmas. I haven't seen them since early September because my broken shoulder made it difficult for me to travel. They will drop me off for Christmas at DS1's home in Sandhurst because their own house is still being extended and, although the outside walls and roof are done, it's chaotic inside with walls being knocked down and new rooms created. So not so much excitement for me as quiet (?) satisfaction with GC and cats.

Nothing special for me but nothing bad is going on in my immediate family currently - so that's good.

Leaves me time to worry about 2 neices, two sisters in law and two brothers in law. Hey ho.
