What’s Damart like now?

I like them. I get a small catalogue every 2 or 3 weeks, emails every couple of weeks. Unlike J.D.Williams, who send about 3 catalogues a week, plus letters, plus 2 o3 emails a day! I used to get phone calls every week till I blew my top a couple of years ago, and they stopped. I find Damart quite refined compared to them.

I have bought from them and found their stuff OK but the amount of mail I get from them is horrendous. Almost every week I get either a catalogue or a sale offer or a letter telling me I might win £50,000 or an offer of a free gift with any purchase (usually something dire) and now it's money-off vouchers ( £10 this week). My recycling box is getting clogged up with the stuff. If I want to buy, I'll buy---I don't need beating round the head with advertising bumff.

They do have some nice and some dire products , and they do send emails very often . I got lovely PJs and just delete the emails

In the 1980s a friend passed on to me a pair of new thick cotton Damart trousers. She'd bought them, decided she'd never wear them but had shortened the length so couldn't return them. I've worn them for walking, gardening and general everyday activities ever since. They wash well, are still going strong and, best of all, have deep 'manstyle' pockets.
Why, oh why, don't most women's have proper pockets? Or, if you know some that do, where, please, might I find them?

They're still in business here in France.
They have an advert on the back of this week's Rustica (gardening) magazine for a jumper, only 9.90€, plus free gift and a Damart catalogue.

I've just googled Damart + mailshots - they were doing a lot of bad things 2006-8 upsetting people, and again in 2011 and again in 2014. So unless someone confirms they’ve stopped, I think I’ll avoid them for my blood pressure’s sake! Thanks everyone.

Thanks Franbern - and do they hassle you beyond reasonable with marketing? The emails aren't so bad, I can block them, but I don't want all that stuff arriving in the post again.

I find that Damart clothing really suits me now I am older. It is easy to order from them, (I mainly do it on line), and they come very quickly. There are lots of special offers, so I tend to choose what I like and then wait for a special offer to purchase these. Like their fleecy trousers, - which are comfortable fit and see me through the winter. Also, their jumpers - just ordered another two, using their 30% black friday discount.
stopped using M&S decades ago, detest their way of displaying items by designer, rather than by what they are. When purchasing in a store I like to see ALL the jumpers, etc nearby so I can make comparisons.
Used to love BHS for underwear and nightwear and shoes, and still miss C&A
Do like the Sainsbury's clothes - again usually choose and then wait until they do one of the 25% off weeks.

I agree about uniqlo - got a couple of cardigans from then for 19.99 each, good value IMO.

Thanks - it was more their jumpers I was after. I get good thermals from Patra (+ my ancient quality ones from Damart long ago). It's whether they still market at you so ferociously - it was quite hard to stop them despite the staff being nice on the phone.

I still like Damart, within certain limitations. Recently I bought 4 pairs of fleecy casual trousers to wear indoors in the winter and they are marvellous. They were half price in a sale.
I find Damart very efficient with orders etc. It's easy to order online or by phone or post.

My mum used to order from Damart with no problems at all. The phone line was manned by very helpful people.

No idea, but if it’s warm underwear you are after I recommend uniqlo heattech.

I think damart are still going though.
I remember seeing a TV programme about elderly fashionistas and Baroness Trumpington was seen leafing through a damart catalogue.
