Physiotherapist asked to see how I sit for most of the day. In my defence I have retired. I lie on sofa, head and shoulders against cushions against sofa arm, feet on other arm. Not my fault my bum is right on the spot where the two seat cushions meet.

She looked closely then said - oh you are the same shape as a banana .

Any other banana shaped members here ?

Or with a banana?

Not trying to be funny - I love plain yogurt with a banana and honey smile

NfkDumpling Sat 25-Nov-17 17:17:03

Re yoghurt. DiL couldn’t eat it when she was bad, but could eat goats yoghurt. She’d get the plain sort in a big tub so she could just have a spoonful at a time. With a few frozen strawberries or honey. Worth a try? Goats and sheeps cheese were more digestible too.

Don't want to nag (but I will) - I told DD off for resting her iPad on her stomach, it's better to have something in between you and it.

Nag nag nag

NfkDumpling Sat 25-Nov-17 17:13:23

I can’t rest my iPad on my tummy - it rolls off!

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 17:11:41

Jalima, thank you for the link ,I have tried a tray but iPad too far away for me to see, I should have said resting just below my boobs on the top of my stomach.

I need to stop putting my feet up on the arm of the sofa, am thinking of some sort of back Rest so I sit more upright

Bananas are excellent food; however, does eating too many turn you into a banana shape?
hmm

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 15:29:27

Impossible Elegran, one wall has tv in corner, double doors to hall and fireplace between. 2nd wall the window with faces the 3rd wall with door to kitchen and radiator , 4th wall my sofa and with other expenses now buying chairs is impossible . And the problem of having to hold the iPad instead of resting it on my tummy

Elegran Sat 25-Nov-17 15:20:08

Being a banana is not good for any of your organs or joints. Could you swap your sofa for a couple of chairs and put one facing the window? And you could get one of these to keep all your paraphernalia www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/armchair-organiser.

Or put an angled mirror on the wall to reflect the view from the window, like those they put on blind corners on the roads?

Jalima1108 Sat 25-Nov-17 15:00:18

Anniebach can you get one of these for your iPad? rather than have it resting on your tummy?

grin

I'm not sure what I am, trying to think

Perhaps monkey nuts in a shell (but not as wrinkled - honestly!).

craftergran Sat 25-Nov-17 14:51:04

Bananas are nice, I can rarely eat just one!

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 14:45:52

I want to be an apple Nfk, but need to put on quite a bit of weight to be one, I think I am rather like a runner bean when standing and seems a banana when relaxing on sofa

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 14:43:21

Janeainsworth, can't move sofa it would block radiator and kitchen door, could sit and turn my head to window but not for the long spells I do now, I love watching the birds

NfkDumpling Sat 25-Nov-17 12:52:41

I was a pear but am now apparently an apple.

Can you not move the sofa Annie to improve your view?

janeainsworth Sat 25-Nov-17 12:49:22

annie could you move your sofa so it faces the window, or is in a position where you’re sitting as instructed but if you turn your head you can see out?

Wheniwasyourage Sat 25-Nov-17 12:34:04

I'm getting more and more like a prune, or so it seems if I make the mistake of looking in the mirror after putting my lenses in...

GillT57 Sat 25-Nov-17 12:25:27

Don't worry Anniebach when we are out of EU all bananas can be as bent as we like! I am an apple ?crossed with a banana ?. I too have a little nest with everything to hand, cat, ipad, remote controls, glass of water.......if I had a catheter fitted i wouldn't have to get up at all!

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 12:11:55

Shouting wouldn't help, Lottie barks as soon as the door bell rings ?

Eglantine21 Sat 25-Nov-17 10:45:30

Oh, I remember going to London at 18 and being very impressed with my first encounter with a "talking door". Where I came from people just called yoohoo and walked in. You could shout smile

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 10:40:27

Egalatine, i only get out of my nest to go to loo, make tea and put chicken in oven for dinner , would rather like a thingy at front door so I could ask who was there without getting up to go into hall to answer the door, I could say no thank you or come in

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 10:36:07

I am to sit on sofa, my back against back of sofa and feet on a stool of sorts. Problems are - I sit left hand side of sofa, have coffee table with shelf almost same length as sofa , keep my lap tops and second iPad under the shelf, my puzzle books and few wicker baskets with note pads and things on shelf, on top of table a magnifier, phones, pens and pencils, remote controls etc. If I sit up I can't pick things up with my left hand and can't see clearly because of low vision AND will be facing the opposite wall but lying on sofa i am facing window, see the sky, trees with lots of birds perched and mountains.

Seems my choices are stay as I am and keep tension in my shoulders and neck and my tummy sinking down which isn't helping my digestive system or sit up and look at a wall with iPad in hands not resting on my tummy .

Eglantine21 Sat 25-Nov-17 10:18:49

I totally relate to the sofa as a nest Annie. Mine is soft velvety corduroy that I can snuggle into. Everything to hand. If only I had a butler I'd probably never get off it!

MissAdventure Sat 25-Nov-17 10:14:21

What did the physio recommend, please, Annie? I think I'm banana shaped too. Its actually uncomfortable to straighten my shoulders back to where I think they should be.

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 10:11:34

Day6, do not put your feet on the other sofa arm or you too will become a banana .

BlueBell, how I miss sitting on the floor, if I did that now I would have to press my alarm for someone to get me up, and would rather not think about needing a wee quickly .

No other fruits mentioned sorry.

MissAdventure, ha bloody ha ?

I am comforted being a banana, and if I sat up as instructed I couldn't hold the iPad all day. The sofa is my nest , feel warm and safe . ?

harrigran Sat 25-Nov-17 08:43:24

My Physio is blaming my shoulder pains on being round shouldered and I am a banana/apple cross.
