Physiotherapist asked to see how I sit for most of the day. In my defence I have retired. I lie on sofa, head and shoulders against cushions against sofa arm, feet on other arm. Not my fault my bum is right on the spot where the two seat cushions meet.

She looked closely then said - oh you are the same shape as a banana .

Any other banana shaped members here ?

Thank you brunswick I also have slim legs.... although officially an apple.
I can now call myself a flamingo.

BlueBelle very pleased to read your post: until my cat died last year, I always sat on the floor while eating porridge, then Fudge would lick my bowl and sit on my legs! Happy days smile

My husband was so skinny at school, his nickname was string bean.

recently he returned for a 40 years reunion... and as he walked in, a wag shouted....

looks like string bean has turned into broad bean !!

Bye the way that is not a put down for me. I am actually laughing. An ex of mine once said I was like a flamingo, because I had long slim legs!

brunswick Sun 26-Nov-17 13:36:43

I am an apple shape. But I sometimes describe myself as a tadpole shape, round middle and long slim legs, or could be a flamingo.

So many of these comments give me a wide grin. You're such a witty lot when the topic permits. Thank you.

Anniebach Sun 26-Nov-17 10:34:56

Silly me. Think too much going on in my pea brain.

I do try, Just looked on utube for exercises, loads and most done sitting on a chair , guess who hasn't a chair because no room in little bungalow for table and chairs, I give up angry

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 10:28:25

or lean over on a wheeled chair to reach something and land unceremoniously on the floor underneath the chair.

Perhaps other people don't do things like that!

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 10:26:55

grin

No, I do try to think before I move/drop an egg into hot fat/use an oven glove on hot pans etc and stop my mind floating away thinking philosophical thoughts!

Anniebach Sun 26-Nov-17 10:19:08

Really Jalima? Now I feel unkind saying that about my physiotherapist, but do you mean think - left foot, right foot etc,

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 10:13:04

Anniebach I have tried to concentrate more as I move around, having broken a limb last year through lack of concentration.

I think household accidents do happen when you're not concentrating.

I sit up with a small cusion behind my lower back. I either have my legs up on a stool or put me feet on it - if the latter I can put cushions on my lap to balance my ipad on, otherwise I am holding it with my left hand ( it is an ipad mini). But I admit I have a lot of shouldervproblems and a double chin ftom looking down.

I find I can't watch tv lying down on the sofa, I would have to lie on my side and the varificals don't work that way on!

Anniebach Sun 26-Nov-17 10:05:00

iPad cushion ? Thank you Saggi, off to Amazon

I rather like couch banana tiredoldwoman, but in truth I have become a couch potato sad

tiredoldwoman Sun 26-Nov-17 09:58:29

A couch banana sounds much more elegant than a couch potato - rather sexy I thought !

Saggi Sun 26-Nov-17 09:56:31

Buy I-pad cushion...get them anywhere but Amazon cheapest!

Anniebach Sun 26-Nov-17 09:54:08

I now have doubts about my physiotherapist, I asked her about my ,at times, wobbly balance, she said that's because you are not concentrating on walking , who walks around concentrating on their walking ?

Saggi Sun 26-Nov-17 09:53:38

Oh Anniebach...unfortunately I've never had a bum not even as a young woman... Whole female family line...flat bummed , so I never sit if I can help it( very uncomfortable). But standing and endless walking has kept me a trim 9st 12 ish ( variable) and I've got my family flat -bum to thank. Mmmmm... it doesn't look TOO bad in jeans though so that's my excuse for always wearing them! [ grin ]

Sheilasue Sun 26-Nov-17 09:30:50

I am apple shape. Would like to be Nigella shape especially since she’s lost weight.

Bamm Sun 26-Nov-17 09:26:30

How rude of the physio, and unreasonable ! I always sit as you describe and am not banana shaped. As long as your back is well supported and shoulders not rounded, with cushions under legs it's good for feet to be up like this( I hope ). Takes pressure off veins in legs.

Esspee Sun 26-Nov-17 09:13:54

Annie, I assume exactly the same position but with head to the right while reading or on my iPad and to the left when watching TV. My OH instructs me to "change ends" when he puts on a programme I would enjoy.
I was given a new fitness watch a few days ago. Coming back from a long day on my feet at work I "assumed the position", was given my dinner on a tray by my considerate partner and enjoyed a relaxing evening with my feet up. My first day read out on my fitness tracker says I slept for 14 hours! Absolute nonsense. I was in bed from 11 'till 8. Now I have to work out how to let the watch know I am awake!

gillybob Sat 25-Nov-17 18:02:00

I'm not sure what I am ? Maybe a spud ?

I sit on the sofa kind of doubled over with my knees bent and feet against my bum. Really comfy but I creak when I stand up .

Anniebach Sat 25-Nov-17 17:25:41

I didn't know there was goats yoghurt, thank you Nfk, shall try it
