My oh my, some very organised GN's on here. I have to admit that I haven't bought a card or present, yet. I am waiting for our local charity shop has it's Christmas event, that happens in a couple of days time.

First one today from the usual person. I have bought mine but that’ probably as far as I’ll get for another 3 or 4 weeks.

I haven't received any as yet but just yesterday bought all the special cards for close family and special friends.
I will start writing them all to-morrow and post 1st week in December.

For the first time I've had to be more organised as DGS is due end of Nov, 3 hours drive from us. So met up with Dear Sister not so long ago and passed on all birthday AND Christmas cards and gifts. We've decided, as a family, only gifts for children-and a group of friends have done a charity donation. I do a lot of ecards (to acquaintances)-so easy and saves a fortune too!

I haven’t finished making mine yet!

Luckygirl Wed 22-Nov-17 17:34:26

Good grief! - I have neither received not written any!

nanaK54 Wed 22-Nov-17 17:30:24

Yes, I was given my first card last Saturday, it is still in my handbag unopened, far too early in my humble!

Haven't started on cards yet. Just finished the present shopping and absolutely knackered. The spare bedroom looks like a warehouse. Wrapping up next, a job I hate and make a mess of. Aim to have all done by end of month before 3DDs make 3 separate visits to collect and deliver in complicated system devised by them. Something will end up in the wrong house and it will somehow be my fault.... but we love it really, don't we?

Received a card and present from a neighbour with whom we are on nodding terms 2 weeks ago. We are a bit mystified; we've never given presents before.

Teetime Wed 22-Nov-17 09:21:38

I had an Aunt who prided herself on being the first and her cards arrived in Late November - I think she could be assured of getting some in return by giving people plenty of notice - she was a lovely auntie- mad as a hatter.

I post mine about 2 weeks before but sadly fewer and fewer to post.

Greyduster Wed 22-Nov-17 09:20:57

Crikey! I bought some in January and put them away somewhere...... ! I suppose I had better start writing a list. As for presents, we have bought GS’s, and I know I am going to have to step up to the plate shortly and think about everyone else, or DH will throw a wobbler because he always has to put a gun to my head!

annsixty Wed 22-Nov-17 08:53:44

I have received a hand delivered one as my friend is going away until Dec 23rd.
She also gave me several others for mutual friends ,to hand deliver when I give them my own.
I like mine posted just before Dec 15th , I don't know why or when I started this, it just seemed to happen.

Thank goodness I am not alone Oldwoman not given it much thought yet. I quite like the last minute dash to get everything done.

Oldwoman70 Wed 22-Nov-17 08:32:48

Oh dear - you are all so organised! I haven't bought a card or a present yet - haven't even thought about what to give people!

lemongrove Wed 22-Nov-17 08:29:03

I have to say that I do love receiving them, and that e-cards are just not the same.
They shouldn't be too early though, two weeks before Christmas is about right for me.

lemongrove Wed 22-Nov-17 08:27:27

No cards received yet, and none sent ( I must buy some next week.)

downtoearth Wed 22-Nov-17 08:21:13

Humbertbear Wed 22-Nov-17 08:13:16

I was given my first card and present 10 days ago when I was visiting a friend in Newcastle, it was quite heavy to carry home in my suitcase!

Willow500 Wed 22-Nov-17 07:17:50

I haven't had one but the first one usually arrives bang on 1st Dec from my cousin. I haven't written any yet - but I have wrapped all the presents!

vampirequeen Wed 22-Nov-17 07:01:06

We got one a couple of weeks ago because we won't see the giver again before Christmas. A beautiful handmade one.

hildajenniJ Tue 21-Nov-17 23:55:16

I can beat you Auntieflo. We had our first Christmas card yesterday, and we had another this morning. I've just finished writing mine this evening.

Bellanonna Tue 21-Nov-17 23:10:40

Was it from overseas, sent early just to make sure?

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 21-Nov-17 23:03:34

Auntieflo Tue 21-Nov-17 22:36:35
