What to do while watching TV

Nobody has mentioned dropping off to sleep! I usually knit or use my tablet, but as soon as a programme comes one which I want to give my full attention I nod off! I therefore am another who records all her favourites. I sometimes have to rewind several times to get to the end of a show .

I too record everything on the tv and FF through the adverts. I'm also on my iPad while watching ,I play scrabble on it and other word games. Last Christmas I was sent an Amazon gift voucher and for some unknown reason ( a mad moment) I bought a Jewellery making starter kit. I now love making beads,bracelets and keys rings and the time just flies by. I have made lots for myself and friends for various gifts. I've just finished making loads and donated the to a worthy cause to sell at their Christmas fayre. I took some to my gym class and sold quite a lot too,although I don't intend to keep doing this as I hate selling. I have re strung beads for people and helped if things are broken. Never in a million years did I think I could do this. I learned through you tube videos. So maybe try something new this winter when you have all that time at night. I prefer making things on the kitchen table but also have one of those trays with the soft cushion underneath and use that while watching tv. Beads and all the stuff that goes with them are not expensive I get them on eBay or Amazon mostly from China.

Sorting through my stash of yarn this evening whilst catching up on 8 Days That Made Rome (it was enjoyable although I was not actually doing anything much at all!) - I found a half-knitted jumper which I started for DD when she must have been about 7. She's in her mid-30s now and the labels on the very nice Sirdar yarn said: 56p reduced to 36p . How old is that?
I can't find the pattern, though, so can't finish it for one of the DGD.

I have to watch it 100% as I have to have the subtitles on....

I usually knit but am sometimes on here or some other on line site or doing a crossword or arrow word. Just don't ask me to sew I hate it

When I watch tv I like to give it my full attention, but if not watching, I phone friends, email friends, play computer games, read, do crosswords and online jigsaws.

I used to iron and watch tv when I had ironing to do for 6 people and was working too.

Knitting, but try not to watch anything interesting at the same time as I get distracted and go wrong with the pattern.
I hope your wrists improve soon KirbyGirl, mine were quite sore for a while after using crutches but I did some gentle exercises and they do seem better now.

Someone bought me some colouring books and gel pens when I was unable to move much.

I surf the net more than watch TV. I used to read more books but don't read so much now, I think the net has caused this. I am also doing a course so do study in the evening.

Knitting mostly, with a bit of GN and a book. I prefer knitting as I can have one ear listening to the television and so stop to watch if anything interesting comes up. At the moment I am doing this (GN) and watching/ listening to a recorded programme on Scandinavian art.

I haven't got a TV but my time flies by - reading; doing crosswords; computer scrabble; writing emails and letters; phoning friends; knitting while listening to the radio; sorting, cataloguing and editing all the photos on my PC; talking to and making plans with OH; doing online grocery orders. Who has time for TV?

I rarely give the TV 100% of my attention and don't watch a lot anyway. My mother always had something on the go when she was sitting down and I think I picked up her habit. I remember once watching her as she knitted while she was asleep, or at least with her eyes closed!

I also do word puzzles and I've taken up crochet again recently. I find it easier on my painful hands than knitting and there are some fabulous modern yarns and patterns around nowadays.

Sometimes I just do admin stuff, paying bills, sorting out birthday presents/cards and so on.

I surf the net, GN, Facebook, pay bills, iron, read, do puzzles, chat online, chat to DH etc. I rarely give the TV my undivided attention. It has to be a really gripping or amazing programme. The only programme I give my full attention to atm is Blue Planet II.

kirbygirl I record everything I watch on tv so I can just FF the adverts, and in the evenings when I'm stuck at home with only the tv and the computer for company, I tend to be playing word games on the computer if a programme doesn't need my full attention and I can just listen to it.

I couldn't possibly be ironing or beautifying myself every night like some posters lol.. and knitting and crocheting is out for me, because like you I have arthritis in my hands. I also spend time on forums, and uploading photos, and playing around with photo editing sites.

You can also play games like Hidden object or similar games online. I like to play trivial pursuit of quiz games.
What about a Jigsaw puzzle, can you manage that? You could have it on the coffee table and do it while watching tv, and the push it away under the sofa or bed half done on a board when you get tired of it, and pull it out again when you want to continue.

Ironing

I crochet in between bouts of GN. I also don't watch much TV from the regular channels. It's mostly Netflix when I'm by myself. I got hooked on a rather silly series called "The Good Place". It has Ted Danson in the lead role, so what's not to like???

Write your Christmas cards

I do tapestry and hand quilt.

I do a bit of pampering. A manicure or pedicure, dye my eyebrows, a facial, play around with make up or hair, a bit like I did in my teens.
It's good fun.

Try taking up painting. I’m making all my Christmas cards this year and the time absolutely flies by.
