Stick on letters

Never a good idea to put child's name on display. There is a company that make photographic suitcase covers, could be an option, sorry can't remember the name but easily googled I imagine.

Tell him adults rarely put their names in big letters on suitcases but use straps to make them easier to recognise. There are lots of straps you can get with all sorts of images on. Far better to make his suitcase recognisable with Minions, Star Wars, Dr Who etc.

Thanks Shysal, initials could be a compromise. I'm seeing him and his mum in a few days so will discuss it quietly with her first and then with him.

He does know that he is not allowed into the gents toilet alone, for instance, when out but has to go to the ladies with his mum so must realise a bit about security. It's such a shame isn't it?

Thinking of the slightly fabric feel surface of most of my suit cases it could be very hard to stick anything on them that would stay in place.

Your could probably buy one of those embroidered suitcase straps with a childs name. But as others say it is probably not a good idea to display names on such things.

There are lots here on Ebay, but for the reasons already given, perhaps he could just go for his initials. I hope he finds something to make him happy.

I'd never have a name in an obvious place for those very reasons. DG liked necklaces with names and I refused for the same reason. Sad but necessary.

Yes, I thought about the security aspect too but he is never alone. It is a bit of an understatement to say that his mum is protective! I'll discuss it with her though.

Not a good idea VQ it's a sad indictment of the world we live in but don't advertise your grandson's name in this way. Initials on a strap are a good alternative.

You can buy a strap to go round the case with his name ready printed on.
I don't think stick ons would last very well. An alternative would be to stencil his name. You could make the stencil from card and use acrylic paint.

I don't think it's a good idea for a child to have his/her name on a case. Children are very trusting especially if someone knows his/her name. They don't think, "Oh he/she knows my name because it's on my case. They think 'If he/she knows my name then they must be OK."

Knowing the child's name makes it easier for a predator to gain a child's trust.
