I moved from Scotland to Wiltshire a couple of weeks ago, determined to make a go of it. People are all very friendly and welcoming and I've already been to 3 or 4 village events both alone and with D1 and her family. However my neighbour who is a fussy individual (who looks as happy as a wet weekend in January), has taken to parking his car slewed across the front of his garage over which I gain access to my parking space. It's a complicated arrangement but works ok if we both park on our designated spot. He has 2 tandem spaces plus the bit in front of his garage and I have 2 side by side plus vehicular access to my garden. The reason I believe he's doing this is to protect the (council) grass verge which abuts the parking area. Some visitors finding it difficult to negotiate this grass have dared to drive one wheel over it while trying to avoid hitting his car. The day I moved in he decided to treat the grass, pegging out squares with a tape measure, while the removal men were within feet trying to unload my furniture. I don't want to retaliate by making life difficult for him tempting though it is, I'm better than that, but it is upsetting me so much I just want to pack up and 'go home'. I know it's early days and I will be away for 2 months over the winter. It's hard enough moving away from the life I had for 37 years, coping with all the emotional baggage that comes with widowhood and having to make life changing decisions on my own without having to deal with this minor, in the big scheme of things, but infuriating situation. I just want to cry....(sorry this is so long)
