DGC's "other granny" is divorced and has been with another man for several years, although they do not co-habit. No-one warms to him really - opinionated and noisy. But none of our business.
"Other granny" looks after DGC one day a week, as I do. DGC (2.5) today told me that there was a "horrid man" at other granny's yesterday. I asked who it was and DGC named granny's partner. I asked what he did that was horrid and DGC just said several times "He was horrid." I then changed the subject as I did not want to concentrate on something negative or to cause further upset.
What would you do? Would you speak to DGC's parents? Or say nothing? Or hope that DGC has said the same thing to them already.
I do not want to blow the situation out of proportion, nor do I want to initiate granny wars or bad feeling. It could really cause a rift and lots of upset. I feel very torn over this.
But I do know that this man has a rather cavalier and casual attitude to parenting from things said in my presence - he thinks modern children are mollycoddled, and little boys should all have knives from being tiny etc. etc. - and similar crap comments. I know if it were my child I would not leave him/her in this man's sole care - but in theory they are with granny.
What would you do?
