What a lot of miserable old buggers some of you are!

I was a flower child in the late 60’s.
I got refused entry to the Penninsula hotel in HK because I wasn’t wearing anything on my feet. I did have a bell round my neck tho’ and you’d think that would have been enough to reassure them of my respectability!
What happened to that girl?

Well I try to apply logic and look at things from more than one perspective when advising....I also try to point out when I feel others have unfairly not done that!! I confess to being a GW and almost losing the will to live when people comment with no real reference to the OP. Sometimes I just cant bear to keep scrolling and reading, so I comment referencing the original thread ...which means I might end up repeating what another poster has said...which may not be a bad thing if whatever is being said more than once, helps the OP!

I fancied a boy like mad in my teens, saw him in a dimly lit nightclub and went up to talk to him. I put my right hand on his arm as we were talking...... and when I took it off I found three of my false nails were sticking up from his fuzzy mohair sweater . I beat a hasty retreat!

Spent the first half of the 60s at art school, doing what art students did ! The second half , I was unexpectedly a mother. But I loved it and had been with DH for a few years before. We are still together after 52 yrs.
I don't feel old. Well just a bit as we have been gardening all day. I am rarely grumpy and mostly happy and contented

In the 60s I was in a bit of a tight clinch with some chap and I was worried he would try and run his fingers through my hair, as I was wearing a rather fetching wig. ?

I spent the 60s in terror that something exciting was going to happen and Id have to join in!

I remember a party in the 60s in London. It was a very groovy affair in a huge mansion of a place in St James's Square. The colleague who'd invited me was a friend of the girl whose parents were housekeeper and butler there - I think she'd nicked the key when she knew the house would be empty . Anyway, there we all were, sitting on the floor in a dark room, lit only by candlelight (the power was switched off) and spliffs were being passed around. I am embarrassed to admit (and I was embarrassed then too) that I passed the spliff on without trying it, thanking God for the dark room so no-one noticed what a coward goody two shoes I was

I spent the 60s studying then working as a House doctor on 72 hour days, then as a GP. Oh! And I got married and bought a house sometime during them. I’m still working PT and when I’m not, I’ll feel grumpy if I want to!
It’s a habit by now!
