Here we are again...
Happy as can be,
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather...
Never mind the rain,
As long as we're together -
Woops she goes again.

Welcome. Make yourselves at home. Let us enjoy yet another cosy kitchen that is also pet friendly. flowers wine cupcake [café] brew

Those are beautiful garden photos, cornergran, it just shows how mild it’s been is with the bees still buzzing around.
Our local supermarket is hideous on Saturdays too and as for the car park....madness where the law of the jungle seems to apply. I hope you’ve alerted the fire service to be on hand for that candle blowing greyduster grin, they’ll be having a busy weekend as it is with all those firework parties!
What a handsome chap you have soop, no wonder he has a fan club!
We enjoyed a walk on a different beach this afternoon, dark brooding skies with areas brightness . It reminded me that’s how family life can be at times. Wishing that any in dark places tonight can see some light.

Greyduster Sat 04-Nov-17 19:57:00

Lovely atmospheric photo, Gq.

annsixty Sat 04-Nov-17 20:12:33

I think most of the organized firework displays are tonight as it is very noisy but also pouring with rain, which is so disappointing for the organisers.
H is already in bed?
Life is not much fun?

Crafting Sat 04-Nov-17 20:32:43

Happy birthday greyduster. Sorry it's a bit late, had a busy day.
P.S. Let it be known I am always ready to share in the birthday treats be it fish and chips, chocolate puddings (soop how could you ?) or a wee dram of something...so if any things going.....

Crafting Sat 04-Nov-17 20:37:32

annsixty my SIL is now content with her days and she and my DB continue to have a loving relationship albeit in separate places. Having been through all the stages you are going through and reaching total despair ..she has now found peaceful times ( sorry if this is not helpful, I am hoping in some way it will be)

annsixty Sat 04-Nov-17 20:58:39

Thank you Crafting in a way I have found some peace.
I am 80 and H is 81, we have had a long life and a long marriage, 59 years.
I try to look back and be very thankful for what we have had.
It could have happened 20 years ago when we had a retirement full of plans before us, we have done that and I am thankful.
However I still find it hard to cope with but I will cope, I am one tough cookie.?

Greyduster Sat 04-Nov-17 21:21:29

Ann ??.
Now that all the vultures have gone home, there is a large piece of chocolate cake left for anyone who wants it.... I was not expecting a cake today, but it was very nice! Thank you all for your good wishes ?!

cornergran Sat 04-Nov-17 22:03:29

Lovely cake, thank you greyd. Just what I needed to go with the remains of the chilled white.

I have no pressures in comparison with yours ann or indeed those of many others. I admire your strength. I am finding it hard to look forward with any sense of pleasure. I’m sure many of us put on a smile when it’s the last thing we actually feel. I hope tomorrow will offer something to trigger a real smile for us all.

Take care everyone.

annsixty Sat 04-Nov-17 22:44:55

H has just woken me up , ready to start the day tomorrow, Sunday.
He wants to know where we have been as obviously we have been somewhere.
Do I laugh or cry?

Nelliemoser Sat 04-Nov-17 23:42:18

It seems I have missed lots of peoples birthdays by not looking into the kitchen .

Happy belated birthdays to whoever.

cornergran Sun 05-Nov-17 00:23:05

Laugh if you can ann, crying takes much more energy. I hope you and your husband can get back to sleep.

kittylester Sun 05-Nov-17 06:36:30

Morning all

Many happy returns to anno today. Hope you gave been enjoying all the fireworks that we laid on fir you! grin

Ann, I hope you both got back to sleep. Do you have one of those clocks that says the day, time of day etc or is your Dh past that? Maybe the Alzheimer's Society can maybe offer you some strategies or assisting technology.

corner I hope whatever is causing you sadness is soon resolved.

I'm feeling a bit down too. It's funny how other people's sadness affects me. I keep thinking about Annie and also a friend who has recently been widowed and is so 'diminished'.

Heyho, to coin a phrase!

downsized Sun 05-Nov-17 07:00:51

Another new kitchen extension! I do try to keep up with all the goings on, but don't always post. It does not mean I don't think of you all and I certainly feel for all of you with such troubles of one sort or another. You are all in my thoughts and, yes, prayers.

I've just had a few days in Amsterdam with DD3 which was a lot of fun. Met up wth an old friend from school who lives there. We had not seen each other for 44 years but the passage of time seemed to have had no effect on our ability to pick up where we left off. I hope she will visit me in Malta.

Returned yesterday so today I am feeling a bit lonely after having had company for a while. Still, no time to wallow as I have to collect Buzz (my dog) from kennels this morning as well as catching up with the laundry. Only DS and myself at home now, but as a chef he needs clean uniform every day which makes for a lot of washing ( and ironing!)

Sending (((hugs))) to those who need a bit of tlc and hope you all have as pleasant a Sunday as possible. sunshine

cornergran Sun 05-Nov-17 07:13:43

Good morning. Early visit to wish anno a very happy birthday.

Other people’s feelings are bound to impact us kitty, it’s part of our humanity I think. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, my sadness will pass as things do.

Disturbed night for me, aches and pains rather than external factors. Hope you were able to settle your husband and yourself ann, I so wish there was some practical help for you. A neighbour in a similar position has an all night sitter every two weeks. She says that night keeps her sane.

There’s a fairly quiet day in store here, bit of a rainy one forecast so indoors for us. Some ironing and supporting a neighbour with her builders who work 7 days a week, the work is fine, she just needs a bit of reassurance. Happy to do that. Then I think settle down with a book for a while.

Take care everyone.

Greyduster Sun 05-Nov-17 07:39:59

Happy birthday wishes, Anno ??. Hope the sun is shining for you. I will look in later and catch up with everyone.

harrigran Sun 05-Nov-17 07:53:58

Just popped in to wish Anno a Happy Birthday and leave a cake. Phew, I was up most of the night icing it smile

annsixty Sun 05-Nov-17 07:56:48

Happy Birthday anno ,are you spending it with your family or your sister?
Whichever, have a lovely day.

NanaandGrampy Sun 05-Nov-17 08:24:49

Morning all,

Just a quick pop in this morning . Wardrobes went up apace yesterday so some serious unpacking in store !!

Happy Birthday Anno hope you enjoy your day!!

Hope you persuaded H is wasn't tomorrow yet Ann !!

Sending a hug to those who are down and a little bit of the lovely bright morning I have woken up to. Back later x

Charleygirl Sun 05-Nov-17 09:46:26

corner I do keep telling you that you and DH need to move because the sun is shining here. We prefer the rain during the night and a lot of the time our prayers are answered.

The fireworks were so loud and close last night that even Tara was getting worried. I looked out of he kitchen door because I could have sworn that the fireworks were shooting into my garden. Tonight will be the same no doubt.

Happy birthday Anno I hope that the sun is shining where you are.

I think the most eventful part of my day will be a trip to Waitrose to buy a loaf of bread.

soop Sun 05-Nov-17 14:33:06

Happy birthday dear anno...we have sunshine in Kintyre. I trust that you have a bright and pleasing day in which to celebrate. Save some of that cake that harrigran has created. It wouldn't do for you to have to scoff enjoy the lot.

granniequeenie Your photograph is indeed atmospheric. Lovely!

The day is fine. We motored to the village and walked in the sunshine. En route to the village, the car kept indicating that there was a fault with the transmission. Not the first time the warning has flashed. The car has been looked over twice by a mechanic who is not familiar with automatic gearboxes. Anyways, we return to said car and it wouldn't start. We then walked some distance to the home of pals who live outside the village. Had a lift back to our car. Still would not start. Enlisted help from a mechanic who happened to be putting up a wooden fence. He turned the ignition key and the car started. MacSporran needs to attend an hospital appointment in Oban on Thursday. We dare not trust the car to cover the journey. RAC will be contacted tomorrow. For as long as we need alternative transport, our pal is lending us a small family car once he's sorted out the insurance cover. hmm It's been a very costly year one way or another. The postie delivers nowt but bills. You would think he has nothing better to do.

Galen MacSporran has selected an infant gunerra plant which he'll pack carefully and post on to you. If it doesn't survive the journey, we'll replace the plant with seeds.

MawBroon Sun 05-Nov-17 14:44:13

What a gorgeous Autumn day!
Down to London for Paw’s MRI liver scan at the Royal Free and back by 12.30 in time for lunch.
Quiet motorway, lots of empty disabled spaces in the hospital car park plus car and driver generously provided by DD1and SIL made it very stress free (apart from getting up early on a Sunday morning)
That is presumably how the rich live hmm
Hampstead Heath looked very inviting and if I had driven us we would have stopped at the Spaniards for lunch, but it would have been heaving
Wishing soop and mcsporran a safe and trouble free trip tomorrow.
Good friends are indeed worth their weight in gold!

MawBroon Sun 05-Nov-17 14:45:15

Apologies - Happy Birthday annodomini
Gaudeamus igitur!

MawBroon Sun 05-Nov-17 14:47:33

Need to pay attention.

Galen Sun 05-Nov-17 15:47:56
