Farms with names like Nether Clarty are usually further down the hill that their neighbours Upper Clarty and Mid Clarty. This makes them even more clarty.

Sorry charley we ignored your good advice and went for a short walk on the beach in the sunshine. Chilly nether regions here too . Our heads do seem clearer, although sneezing is no quieter, hopefully the germs will be driven out by the cold weather. Yes, we are flu jabbed.

I observe a bottle of brandy has appeared on the kitchen worktop, could be for feeding the cake or for medicinal purposes for Mr C. . Can’t stand the stuff myself.

Elegran, I love the word clarty and use it quite a lot - as in, 'Ooohh, doesn't she look clarty in that!' It was a favourite word of my Dad.

I thought nether regions were anything below the waist and above the knee. Must have missed that Biology class.

Right, I'm off to stir fry some ginger beef to see if it warms us up a bit. We've been to a Mid Century Fair today and it was in a flipping marquee. I've not felt my feet since. We did get a lovely framed piece of fabric for the dining room wall though. And, when I'm warm, I'm sure I shall enjoy looking at it!!

There is nothing like a blast breath of sea air to make you feel better - I remember that I used to take a little DD for winter walks on the beach when she was recovering from whooping cough.

Maw have just read about your DD and hope she is all right now, it reminded me of when my DD was in London when 7/7 happened. I think that the police etc are on extra alert at the moment which is a good thing, but very traumatic to be caught up on something like that and staff in stores like that should have a procedure to follow; I'm surprised they did not.

Sorry to lower the tone soopers . I know what a refained lot you are, but I have to return to the subject of Christmas fairy nether region and okker protection. Not wanting to sustain damage from a couple o' jaggy branches or pine needles in the knickers, I put my mind to thinking up a suitable form of protective garment. Then, I had a light bulb moment - the fleecy pair of long-legged tea-rose directoir knickers which I received as a leaving present from work. Off I went to search through my knicker drawer. 'There's quite a few pairs of pants in here' I thought, so I set about counting them - 126 pairs! Is this a record?
But no knee-length drawers were to be found. The only garment with legs was a pair of Spanx. I can't believe that I ever fit into these instruments of torture.
All alternative suggestions welcome.

A friend I have known for nearly 40 years and with whom I used to cook in our London days , and I seem to be experiencing much of our lives in tandem
20+ years ago when Paw was made redundant, she and her husband had to give up the village shop in the West Country where they had moved from London. When Paw was having his liver transplant, her husband had a kidney removed due to kidney cancer. 9 years ago when Paw had a perforated bowel, nearly died and was subsequently diagnosed with lymphoma, her husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
As things continued here, my friend’s OH continued in remission despite a spread to his pelvis, but in the Spring of this year it was spreading to his lungs and liver.
We spoke just after Paw slipped away and she told me he was probably in his last days, fortunately not in pain and still at home.
Well she rang me this afternoon to tell me he died in early hours of this morning. We could share our tears.

Perfect colour N&G but it might be a bit tricky getting out of them in a hurry. Better restrict my fluid intake. Or perhaps I could buy a Shewee. They look as though they are designed for gentlemen.

Thanks for your suggestion of padded cycling shorts for my fairy on the tree outfit cornergran . It reminded me of the time that OH and I were going on a cycling holiday in the Andes and somebody suggested putting ripe bananas in your pants to soften the ride
