Double standards between the sexes

Grannybuy - I saw a show in that series too. I was appalled at the lascivious old women and their attitude to men. Yet another aspect of the Brit abroad whose antics disgust the residents of the holiday resort who they must grit their teeth and think of the money going into their economy.
In Cumbria there was a blue dye factory, the women who worked there were no shrinking violets. One day as they left work a flashed leapt out, his willy (with a ribbon bow) waved towards them. They ran at him and he fled, I wonder whether he tried that again.

There was a programme on TV a while back about badly behaved pensioners on holiday. I must admit the explicit sexual behaviour of some of the women towards men - usually younger - made me cringe. I dare say it was their way of having a laugh on holiday, but . . .I wondered what their families thought.

I hope there arent any more threads on this subject, we have it all day and every day in the media, can we close it now please!

Ok, Ok, there has been inappropriate behaviour as well by women but the difference is that but it doesn't lead to RAPE...does it ? It also doesn't lead to the threat of RAPE either.
How many women do who you hear about who are raped who wouldn't have preferred to have been slightly embarrassed instead. FFS stop defending men and their awful behaviour, by then attacking women.
I don't know one woman of my acquaintance, including myself, who hasn't been touched or actually assaulted by a man. I have never touched a man inappropriately EVER.
Men have the penises and women don't, end of.

Yes, I beleive there are double standards, as I said in a previous post a couple of days ago, I have seen women do worse things to men in my days of working in an office than I am hearing about those in Westminter.

Any work I've been in the women were just as into flirting and sexual innuendos as the men and all seem to be taken with a pinch of salt. Also watching girls nights out / hen parties women are much wilder. Wonder if we think it's ok for us , especially as the women ( especially younger ones ) are ver provocatively dressed nowadays compared to years ago. Though still agree No means No and power is still unfortunately wielded with the bosses.

Anyone else read the Daily Telegraph (don't want to split the camp!) But I was hugely offended by an article in the magazine today on sex robots, pages of it, what on earth made the DT think this was acceptable to write in detail about how these are progressing? I lose hope for the World sometimes.

Not long ago, I would have agreed with you there, Lemongrove, but my views are changing. As the younger generations have grown up to accept 'equality' as the norm, I don't think we are far at all from the stage where men from those generations will feel able to challenge inappropriate behaviour without it being seen as a slight on their manhood. That said, this process will probably be speeded up a lot if and when younger women become more aware of this issue and start to change their own behaviour - and challenge that of other women - accordingly.

But I could easily be wrong!

Kooklafan.Many years ago we women wouldn't have stood a chance when it came to making a complaint against a male for his sexual suggestions. Now thankfully, although I fear there will be those who will take advantage of the chance to make something out of nothing, we can speak out without fear of us being thought of as 'asking for it'.

Women feel stronger in a group, so will participate and go along with other women, and this also goes for a few men gathered together too.

Although men complaining about other men may become more prevalent.

Yes Linda I once worked where the older ( middle aged) women teased young men mercilessly , and if they were at all sensitive, they soon gave their notice in.I felt very sorry for them.

I used to work in a psychiatric hospital which had a lot more female staff than male. I have to say that the most outrageous and overtly sexual behaviour I have ever witnessed in the workplace were some of the women to the men here. It was often older women to young men and you could see they were uncomfortable.

Hopefully - and I only say 'hopefully - men too will soon start to feel more empowered to complain about inappropriate behaviour towards them. That, to me, would seem like a logical progression from here.

Straight away one of my male friends made a comment about my cleavage (he must of thought it was amusing). I didn’t make a fuss as I didn’t want to draw attention to it, but I do feel that until get away from this way of seeing things (Chippendales or Page 3 Models) then lines will still be crossed.
I don’t want to be a party pooper, but we should be respectful of others feelings.

Many years ago when I was around 19 I worked for a father and son owned coach company. I didn't drive at that time so one day the father said he'd drop by and give me a run in to work seeing as he would be passing. He came in while I got my coat and bag together and I had a couple of cats that I had to bring out of the bedroom so they were confined to just the hall and kitchen and the father seemed to think this was his invitation to follow me into the bedroom. He started off by asking if I had ever dated an older man, that kind of thing and then he was saying stuff like if I went with him I would never want a man my own age again etc. I got us out of my home as quickly as possible and a day or two later I heard the father and son arguing in the other office, the father saying "you're paying a girl out there for doing nothing other than sitting answering the phone" needless to say, later that day I was laid off. I truly believe it's because I didn't encourage the fathers advances but I couldn't prove it and if I had gone to a tribunal it would have been his word against mine.

men and women, or animals or the elderly can be powerless to say no. I would hate a world where the joy of another's beauty is ignored, but it is not there to be exploited ever.

Well, yes but, would be my answer. My dear late husband used to say that with a woman this behaviour comes across with humour but with a man there's always the physical threat simply because men on the whole tend to be bigger and stronger than women.
Remember the Chippendales? Women are encouraged to cheer and holler 'take 'em off!' in a way we wouldn't in everyday life.
We could discuss this until the cows come home.

Let's ban fun and sex and see if we like the world we are left with.

Yes, I think that story does come under double standards, as embarassing teasing. I wouldn't call it abuse, not from one instance anyhow. Teasing can become bullying if it is repeated.

Do we really need another thread about this?

Yes. I'm waiting for a man to complain that a woman has put her hand on his knee, several times. I will wait in vain as men would not make this complaint for fear of ridicule.

When I think of some of the women I worked with when our director was a man, one in particular, I think men get harassed too.

I would call that bullying from the women. But that sort of thing always makes me feel a bit queasy, I feel we women should behave better than that.
