Rightly or wrongly, now that the media seem to be thriving on (almost revelling in) the raking up of celebrity and politicians past misdemeanours, (however small) is it time we all confessed every thing we have ever done or said in the past that would today seem inappropriate?
Should teachers from the 1950's,60's 70's confess to hitting a small child by giving them the ruler, slipper or whatever?
Should I call the police and admit that back in the 70's I referred to a boy in my road as "black John"?
Should I contact the police about an ex boss of mine who made continuous sexual advances towards me?
Or should we all accept that these things that were (almost) acceptable and very common at the time are no longer acceptable today and move on?
