Well, the sale went through and we now own this new bar,
Isn’t it wonderful?
So clean and shiny ( that won’t last!)
Come on in, have a drink and tell the tale of what you have been up to.
All the old staff are here, in the cellar checking the stock, but will be up here shortly to take your orders.???

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 19:21:05

Heehee, JaneD3 I think we may be twins!

Use the comfy fur covered chairs, much better eh?The bar stools are for the taller staff and customers with longer legs.

Does anyone mind if Jason sleeps behind the bar, he barks if I leave him at home and tears up the cushions.
He is almost house trained now!

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 19:21:49

A black coffee and a pernod for me tonight please.

JaneD3 Thu 02-Nov-17 19:36:34

Brandy and Benedictine please. I'm a classy bird me grin

BBbevan Thu 02-Nov-17 20:01:46

I'm just peeping round the door. I would like to come in . Can I.? I have a bottle of Norwegian Aquavit. And I will share it with any brave soul up for trying it

lemongrove Thu 02-Nov-17 21:10:43

BB come on in! smile we don’t bite ( well, Jason does, but he’s asleep) now, this Norwegian stuff you have, is it actually alchohol? Because it sounds a bit watery for The Argy.
Still, pour it out, and I’ll give it a go. Cheers!

DameJudyClench Thu 02-Nov-17 22:16:51

Totally loving the mock snakeskin bar stool. Thought I'd pop in for a quick G&T after my Yoga for the Unbendable lesson.

BBbevan Fri 03-Nov-17 06:37:55

Watery! It is 40+ proof. lemon A bit early in the morning but I will leave a bottle and you can all have a tot. Better than bringing a bottle of Tizer and some pork scratchings . Careful though as, it made my ears burn the first time I had it.

lemongrove Fri 03-Nov-17 08:42:18

Well, just tried some in my morning coffee BB not bad at all is it?I will also try some with my mid morning cup of tea
And my soup at lunchtime. We could order a few bottles of this to make the bar look sophisticated.
Now, what will you all be wearing for the Grand Opening Ceremony tonight? We don’t want to be all clashing do we?
I will be wearing a tangerine coloured faux fur mini skirt,
Silver and white ruffled top, killer heels (also silver) and spangly tights with a white patent leather look bag with silver chain strap.Classy! Having my hair done this afternoon, ( lilac streaks and bouffant style.) Wait until the Admiral gets an eyeful.....

Teetime Fri 03-Nov-17 08:45:11

Grand Opening Ceremony? What to wear- I do have a ball gown that I cant do up - anyone got some big safety pins or shall I just sit with my back to the wall.
Any chance of an early snifter my foot is killing me this morning- just something medicinal like a BIG G & T would do it.

lemongrove Fri 03-Nov-17 08:51:15

Well, safety pins in dresses is a bit Liz Hurley Teetime haven’t you got anything else?
Dash out this afternoon to Primark, they always stock something suitable for any occasion.
A large G&T coming right up!

Menopaws Fri 03-Nov-17 08:54:07

I was going for a black leather mini skirt, fishnets and biker boots and a furry bomber jacket that looks like an Alsatian but just wondering if Jason will attack/fancy me which could be awkward, if the place is warm enough I could just wear my snakeskin boob tube on top

Menopaws Fri 03-Nov-17 09:00:11

Marydoll I've just discovered a cocktail called Red Headed Slut and thought of you, shall I make some? It's jagermeister, cranberry and peach schnapps

BBbevan Fri 03-Nov-17 14:44:27

Tonight I shall be mostly wearing velvet and lace. Top to bottom and inside to outside.
Don't like 'faux' , I have to have the real thing.
Glad you liked the Aquavit. It is quite nice in porridge too.

Teetime Fri 03-Nov-17 14:48:24

Resorted to sherry at lunchtime and now neighbours both in the eighties coming round for a drink - they can drink me under the table so I'll be in here later to get properly drunk. Didn't find a frock today will old blue spotted dressing gown with pollen stains and filthy cuffs where I keep doing the washing up wearing it do?

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 03-Nov-17 15:18:38

Is the Grand Opening tonight? Does this mean we should send the daily newsletter out a bit later tomorrow morning? grin

Here's a bottle of gin from HQ to help with the festivities!

What's that? The bottle's half empty? <glares threateningly around the office>

lemongrove Fri 03-Nov-17 17:32:05

Lara, where did you get that old pic of me pouring the gin from? Of course, I don’t look quite as good as that today, but not bad in the dark with the light behind me.grin

Just come in to get the place ready for later on, and to bring these plates of cooked bits and bats ( I hesitate to use the words hors d’ouvers) which I will put high up and well away from Jason.
We have all the cocktails ready to go, Barry is on door duty as he used to be a bouncer ( I love a man in uniform) and Big Jim is tapping his pipes in the cellar.
The doors open to the general public at 7 but staff, regular customers and special guests may drop in at any time before then.
Think I will just have a quick one to steady my nerves ( with Barry) and then I will have a drink.wink

Menopaws Fri 03-Nov-17 18:40:05

I'm here all fit again after a week off so pour me a large gin and baileys as a warmer then I'll tackle the cocktails. Thanks for setting up lemon, it's looks lovely..cheers

lemongrove Fri 03-Nov-17 20:03:22

Thanks Meno well, the Admiral cut the ribbon and now we are well and truly open ( to offers) and may I say how fantastic everybody looks. Meno your snakeskin boob tube is magnificent, and BB you could be a Duchess in all that velvet and lace! Teetime you have rather let the side down in your scruffy dressing gown, but as I have stationed Jason the Alsation in front of the chair where you are slumped , I don’t think you will be noticed.
Marydoll as ever , is dressed to knock your eyes out, in a slinky short red dress, green leggings and trademark black
wellies.
Drink has been taken, as they say, and we are all a bit unsteady on our pins, but still lively and up for it! wine

JaneD3 Fri 03-Nov-17 20:48:17

Mine's a Middlesbrough please! I keep hearing about horses douvres but where are they? Nuts??

BBbevan Fri 03-Nov-17 21:03:10

I'm always up for it, whatever it may be ..... hic hic

Marydoll Fri 03-Nov-17 21:11:59

Sorry ladees, I've not been around. I've been caught up in no end of domestic dramas. All week, there has been a steady stream of plumbers, gas engineers, uncle Tom Cobbley and all in my home -all to no avail.sad
It's nice to see new members venturing into the Argy.
I'm a bit suspicious of that Lara Gransnet. She seems to pop up in a number of different places, all sweetness and light, offering gifts. Beware the Trojan Horse wink
Do you think she is anything to do with that Tomgransnet, who very suddenly disappeared off the scene after dipping a toe in the GN water. However, as Lara keeps offering gifts, I think we should just string her along. wink.
Lemongrove, I beg to differ about my outfit. It's the purple and orange zig zag patterned leggings I'm planning to wear this evening. That is if I can stay awake, as I've been very busy with the plumber today. I did invite him to the Argy, but he says I have worn him out. wink
I'm afraid it will need to be a cup of tea and a bar of chocolate for me , as DGD is having a sleepover. So no hooch for me tonight.

lemongrove Fri 03-Nov-17 21:34:32

You must have gone to the loos to change then Marydoll because I took photos earlier, and you were wearing green leggings what! No hooch! unheard of.
Still, that means I can go home with the Admiral tonight.smile I shall tell him that you are too tired Marydoll and otherwise engaged ( with plumbers.)
It’s getting hot and steamy in the bar, a bit of a crush on, as a
Passing hen party came in ten minutes ago.
The nibbles have all gone down well ( but could be thrown up later.) All in all a great night and the night is yet young!Which is more than we are.

Marydoll Fri 03-Nov-17 22:46:46

Oh, I'm over the Admiral anyway. All he wanted to do was sing sea shanties and get me to polish his wooden leg. The gas fitter on the other hand, is really fit. wink
I don't remember the green leggings, someone must have spiked my tea!

Menopaws Sat 04-Nov-17 01:45:21

I thought the wooden spoon I was stirring the cocktails with was a bit big, oh well at least give the leg a good wipe when you get him home lemon. That was a fun night, did anyone wake up Teetime or is she still in the chair?
I'll be in late morning to clear up as no doubt Lemon will be having a lie in after her hard work and limb rubbing duties tonight.

Menopaws Sat 04-Nov-17 01:51:13

Now you mention it Mary I think Lara was that quiet person who sat at the end of the bar smelling of dettol, she was obviously protecting herself from Argy germs while spying on us. The wig was a good disguise and I thought her hands just looked anaemic but I reckon she was wearing protective gloves too.
