Never believed in love at first sight until I recently met a man. We agreed to stay in touch.
I feel like a 16?year old waiting for phone to ring.
Never thought I would feel like this again.
We agreed to keep in touch and meet up .
Help! What should I do?

If you don't hear from him after a couple of days definitely contact him yourself - suggest a cofffee or lunch halfway between you - in case he thinks he will be expected to do all the travelling. Men can be as unsure as women about making the first move.
And now that you realize you're not past it, get out there and make lots of new friends!

My OH and I met nearly 10 years ago online. We lived about 50 miles apart and for the first 2 years only saw each other at weekends. I moved in with him about 7 years ago and we are very happy together.
If you feel it is right then get in touch with him, life is too short as we get older. I wish you well.

Hi Crazygran,
Exciting times. I think we have the edge of relationships when we get closer to 60. We speak our minds ( nicely of course), and we really have been there done that got the tea-shirt. I predict lovely times and great experiences.
Chuffed for you x

First husband love at first sight,or at least a very strong attraction, sadly didnt work out in the end,
Last year met someone else, same as you,
We have been together ever since, but dont live together, but see each other often, and have many afternoon delights, wink, both in our 70s, feel like teenagers
Go for it, even if it doesnt last, as someone else said, you feel alive again, and have something to look forwards to
I hope it works out for you, x

You have his number- text him just to thank him for a lovely time (we don't have to wait to be contacted- so old hat nowadays) good luck

Enjoy yourself.

whatever you do: STAY COOL! Sorry for the caps but the biggest mistake women make in a new relationship is to start planning for move-in day while the man is still at the 'fun evening' stage. Enjoy the feelings and take a page from the men's book: have fun one day, one date at a time.
Oh, and: men are insecure too. If he hasn't called after 3 days, call him. ;)

I had to smile at your comment. Love however can be blind when it comes down to the practical side of life ?

sarahellenwhitney Sat 28-Oct-17 12:28:15

Crazygran Sorry, but sceptical about love at first sight.? Can you love someone the moment you set eyes on them.?Weak at the knees at first sight 'omg he is a dish' got to get to know this guy' yes, but doesn't love come when you get to know a person ?

Be careful the last man who declared undying love for me I discovered was living in a caravan in a field after his wife had thrown him out for womanising. There are lots of chancers out there. Check him out before you give your heart totally. Forever the cynic Sorry hope it works out for you and he is as genuine as you

Someone I know whose first husband had died met a very nice man and married at the age of 70.
So romantic. They didn't rush into it and are both very happy.
But don't sit by the phone, see other people, men like a challenge.

I'm delighted for you Crazygran! Of course love at first sight is possible and of course age doesn't come into it! Enjoy it casually at first (if you can!) and see what happens. Even if it doesn't work out (but I really, really hope it does) you'll have the joy of knowing that you're still alive and kicking! smile

I know exactly how you feel. Exactly! It's how I felt 20 years ago almost exactly, in 1997.

Widowed in 2002, I never thought I'd feel like this again. It was the smallest, smallest chance that we were on the same site. I responded to his message headed 'Older guy'. We were both 62 at the time. He was struggling with a very difficult marriage, verbal abuse, you name it. He phoned me. He was running between one phone box and the next just as someone else wanted to use it, and I said 'If it gets really unbearable you can always move in with me'. The moment the words were out of my mouth I couldn't believe I'd said them. I'm a respectable widow, this is what the young folks say! And basically, the rest is history. 'You fly down the street with wings on your feet...' yes, you certainly do. And all those years later, we're married and we're still in love!

I hope all goes well for you both.

Don't knock it. I met the love of my life at age 57, and we've now been together for 14 wonderfully happy years. :-)

Diddy1 Sat 28-Oct-17 11:16:11

Crazygran how lovely, enjoy every minute of feeling like this, and good luck in the future, please let us know of any progress made x

Lilyflower Sat 28-Oct-17 11:04:40

Have a nice time but don't marry him as it will disinherit any children you have.

Jane43 Sat 28-Oct-17 11:02:28

Such lovely stories, blessings to you all. ❤️

Rolande Sat 28-Oct-17 11:01:52

Oh Crazygran, how absolutely wonderful! And yes "love at first sight" does definitely exist!! Lucky girl! Enjoy it. My darling hubby died 11 months ago and he was a "love at first sight". Also I believe you can love many times. It does have its down sides like "waiting for phone calls" and "does he feel the same" but it's worth it imo! Have fun! envy wink

Go for it, Crazygran! At the tender age of 60 (I'm now 72) I met the love of my life and we did the whole romantic thing. Dated while living in our own homes, then he proposed on one knee in a puddle beside Niagara Falls. We've now been married for 8 years and it has been the most wonderful time of my life, which has changed from palest pastel to vivid technicolour!

I can only wish the same for you.

Jochilling Sat 28-Oct-17 10:52:28

How lovely for you to feel that way again fingers crossed for you x

grandtanteJE65 Sat 28-Oct-17 10:51:48

Dear Crazygran, I didn't believe in love at first sight until I met my husband, neither did he, and we weren't spring chickens either as our 50th birthdays were in sight.

We are still happily married to each other 17 years later, so go for it, and I hope you will be just as lucky as we feel we are.

And do take the good advice both about your best undies and about ringing him, if he doesn't ring you. These days, I don't think you need to wait for him, after all he may be considering the false teeth he hoped you didn't notice he had, or some such thing and be hanging back.

If I were you, and you do decide to ring him, I would find something you could suggest he might like to accompany you to; a talk at the local library, an art exhibition, or whatever else you can find.

riosgrandma Sat 28-Oct-17 10:49:50

I know exactly how you feel - I too have just met someone out of the blue after 39 years of marriage! It's the most wonderful feeling - I'm smiling again - and even if it doesn't last at least I have felt happy and wanted for a time. We have had 6 'dates' so far!
Go for it - life is far too short xx
