Comfy old favourites

We have 'The Bear', a grey fluffy heavy dressing gown I bought in a Debenhams sale solely because it looked so warm! Little GD likes to snuggle under it in winter, as do we if we are feeling the chills.

My lilac dressing gown which belonged to DD who threw it out as it was "SOO OLD"! She is horrified that I rescued it and after another 15 years I am still wearing it. Astonishingly it shows no signs of wear and tear and I tell her that it is cosy and like a cuddle from her!

Had my lilac dressing gown sometime now, so soft still.
Got a long button cardi from charity shop was a m&s one washes up a treat nice a long with buttons great to wear on chilly days with a scarf.
It's very mild here in the SE hoping we don't get a cold winter.

I still have my grandfather's silk dressing gown. It's probably at least a 100 years old now and still going strong. Couldn't bear to part with it. The tales it could tell of its life :-)

I have a dressing gown which I bought from M&S 33 years ago! It has washed nearly white but I love it although myDH threatens to cut a strip off the bottom as I seem to be shrinking & in danger of tripping over it. It was made in GB which unfortunately cannot be said of much today

Not clothing but when I was living in military married quarters over 40 years ago, the quarter was fitted out with everything from a teaspoon, to beds and bedding... if anything broke or got damaged or lost we had to pay for it at the leaving inventory when we were moving to another quarter ..

everything was superb high quality

On my final quarter before moving into our own home , I took the heavyweight wooden handled stainless steel Carving fork.. which I paid for at the final inventory at a reduced price ., but I wouldn't have been able to buy such such a decent one brand new at the time.
I still have that wooden handled fork..even though I could buy one these days as good quality... I wouldn't part with this one 40 years on...

Old Faithful; my long cable knit woolly jumper that goes well with leggings [covers the hips]. Now gone at the elbows. Know I have to throw it away, but ...

I have a short-sleeved bowling-shirt-type blouse bought in the much-missed C&A in about 1995. It's in lovely shades of cream, pale green and pale terracotta, washes and irons like a dream, gets trotted out every summer looking as good as it did the day I bought it. Wish I did ....

Yes, my winter long johns...they've even got holes in them, but I can't part with them! Oh and a couple of very comfortable knickers, also with holes!! I only hope I'm not wearing them if I have an accident and have to carted off to hospital!!

OK... how about this. We've lived in this house for 27 years, I wore my favourite red skirt when we were house hunting... it was old then and I still wear it regularly !

It's a full circle ankle length skirt I got in a sale at Chelsea Girl. I think it was £3.

Needless to say it has an elasticated waist, which is how come it still fits !

Every time I wear it DH says... that looks nice... don't think I've seen that one before have I ?

My gardening cardie, it makes me looks slim and gorgeous and keeps me warm, only one of those statements is true of course.

I still have a zip-up full-length dressing gown I bought from M & S when I was expecting DD1 (now 36!). To be fair the zip broke after a few months from being pulled too tight around my bump, but I took it back and they repaired it free of charge; it was fine all during my pregnancy with DD2 and keeps on going. I have newer ones I wear as well, but it still looks good and is so comfy.

Pity that we can’t all wear these comfy old things, get together in a group and take a photo! What a glamour loaded pic that would be.?

I have a tatty long flannelette nightie, it is at least 15 years old, the colour was once a raspberry but it is now a mucky pink. soo warm and comfy! I have put it in the rag bag loads of times and then changed my mind!

Like you, Alima, on holiday in Canada (many years ago) I was colder than expected and bought a fleece gilet in a local shop. It is still my favourite cold weather garment and still looks like new.

In 2002 we were on a coach tour about to arrive in San Francisco. It was a beautiful hot day and we didn't take any notice of out tour guide when he told us to take something warm to wear when we arrived. Wish we had, it was freezing when we got off the coach, the San Francisco Haze or something. Most of us made our way to a street vendor selling San Francisco fleeces. Mine is cream, cost $5 and has since been used as a dressing gown. Still as good as new too.

My purple half dressing gown, plus pjs with a honeysuckle design. I also like comfy cotton socks.

Grey wool knitted slipperboots, quite ridiculous but wonderful.

I have an ancient, broken-down, totally disreputable pair of slippers. They are extremely comfortable and I cling onto them, although I know that old slippers are the cause of many accidents. Most footwear hurts my dodgy feet, but these don’t.

Yes, a grey, zip-up Edinburgh Wool cardigan - must be about 10 years old now. Very cosy! And I do love my M&S brush cotton turquoise pjs ... I have to go out in ten minutes - I would love to be curling up in them right now!

I love comfy p'js, old dressing gowns and best of all, my "leisures" which I put on most evenings between 6 and 7 pm. It coincides with wine o'clock. It involved ancient joggers/leggings, comfortable sweat shirts or long T shirts and I won't mention B**'s which are definitely not leisure wear.

I've got several dressing gowns but always end up back in my old pink one that's got a huge tear down one side where I caught it on the door handle. It's just so warm and comfy I can't part with it - I have mended it once but did the same thing again!
