Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

Mawbroon, flowers

I've decided to embrace the 3am awakening. DH has been sleeping very badly and coughing. He has very nasty yellow blisters at the back of his throats and Dr Google has today diagnosed viral laryngitis. Separate beds last night and I was reading until 5.30 with a nice hot drink. I have a mug which is midnight blue with gold stars and it's the designated insomniacs mug. I've also decided that things I used to stress about aren't worth it. Let's make 3am special ??

Stansgran Sun 22-Oct-17 14:44:45

DH has only one throat.

Anniebach Sun 22-Oct-17 15:36:57

See you in the early hours stansgran ?

Nana3 Sun 22-Oct-17 22:38:59

I'll see you too probably but hopefully not. Having a nightcap just now a whisky and water. Fingers crossed it works some magic.
All the best everyone.

HiYa! I can't sleep either. Just made toast with triangle cheese on top. Bad for.. cholesterol but beter than hungry

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 02:12:34

I'm feeling cosmic aloneness but can feel a slight affinity with other sleepless, lonely old gals out there.

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 02:16:10

Maybe Anniebach will join me at 3?

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 02:24:48

That's the dead hour

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 02:32:26

Pray?

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 02:38:36

Silence from the wilderness.

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 02:47:37

No, wait!... I am not alone in my darkness..I hear the scurrying footsteps of the first winter rats above my head in the loft!!

Anniebach Mon 23-Oct-17 03:10:50

3.am, here I am wot, have my mug of tea, oh how I want to burp, doesn't take much to make me happy

Nana3 Mon 23-Oct-17 04:46:44

So much better with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

MawBroon Mon 23-Oct-17 04:47:39

Not blaming Paw for once but my bladder . Hmm Hattie thought she might check out the garden too so now I am wide awake, read the paper online, played a bit of Cookie Jam.
I know that if I go back to sleep (or try) one or other will request my presence.
But RATS * wot?* eek! You need a Jack Russell!

Marydoll Mon 23-Oct-17 08:18:24

Couldn't sleep as our heating broke down last night. It needed re pressurised, but as it was a new boiler, I couldn't work out how to do it. DH is no help with things like that. Phoned for an engineer and he was to come this morning.
However, I went on You tube and the manufacture's website was so helpful. Got it going, but decided to see if heating would come on in the early morning before cancelling the visit, just to make sure.
Lay awake half the night, so that I could cancel the engineer at 8'oclock if all was well. Then dozed off at 6.30am!!
We don't have DGD today, so I was so looking forward to a little lie in. I'm like a half shut knife this morning.
Hope everyone has a better day, than night. As for the rats, shock

Bellanonna Mon 23-Oct-17 08:57:13

Nice to see you again wot. Not sure if you’ve moved yet? Hope you’re ok

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 10:43:41

Thanks, Bella! No, I haven't moved but my partner of 20 years did in early August. Still trying to organise myself and the cottage which is going to be difficult in the winter, due to the wood/coal burner heating system, rats and isolation . Also, getting used to the idea of pleasing myself about cooking etc. The large garden is a worry too. I am grateful for a paid for roof over my head though!

wot Mon 23-Oct-17 11:22:55

If I could just get rid of this anxiety/depression it would all be easier.sad

Anniebach Tue 24-Oct-17 04:11:17

4am, no one around, hope its because all are sleeping. My daughter coming down from Lincolnshire today , hope I will be able to stay awake this afternoon. If night is bad I usually sleep for about two hours in afternoon.

Anniebach Tue 24-Oct-17 04:23:37

Miss talking to Honey, she use to stay awake with me, Lottie fast asleep.

Nana3 Tue 24-Oct-17 05:24:18

Hello Annie, sorry about Honey very sad for you. Hope you are managing some morning sleep and have a lovely time with your daughter.

Anniebach Tue 24-Oct-17 05:26:40

Hello Nana3, thank you.

wot Tue 24-Oct-17 10:06:19

Hello Annie, I managed to sleep last night (until 9.45!) Sorry about Honey xx since partner went I am having to share my bed with Sophie (large Lurcher dog) as we need each other's company! She doesn't like it when I move my legs though and that's the only time she ever growls! Hope you enjoy your afternoon.

Bellanonna Tue 24-Oct-17 11:12:07

Wot I’m so glad you made the break in August. Had been thinking of you as hadn’t seen you around. Don’t worry about the garden for now, it will all die back soon. Deal with the unwelcome loft guests though (traps? poison?). Can someone help you with that? Sorry you feel down but I’m sure it’s part of the big life change you’ve gone through, and well done you for doing it.
Sophie will get used to you moving about in bed. That made me smile. I hope in time you will feel less isolated but that does really depend on you getting out when you feel like it. Meeting other dog owners? Joining something?
Keep posting, it’s so good to see you again x
