Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

Anniebach Sat 02-Dec-17 09:51:33

Struggling corngran, but this is how it is x

cornergran Sat 02-Dec-17 14:02:22

Willow500 Sun 03-Dec-17 06:19:54

Just catching up in here as I've been so exhausted lately I've slept through till 5am and so has my cat. So much stuff going on in my head and out of it once I become vaguely conscious that's it. Annie I hope the things the OT ordered with you and the videos help with your physical problems. For all of you suffering loss and illness I hope you manage to get some rest during the day. I don't think it matters when you sleep just as long as you do at some point - would lying on the bed and using eye pads help during the day - and turning the phone off? There are also apps you can get with white noise or other sounds which might help. My house is like a tip today as I've been putting up the decorations so have to start tidying up and have 4 weeks work to complete in the next 10 days so head is full of that too. Hey ho better make a start - after a second cup of coffee smile

NotaGran, yes Sams do good work, I use to work for the charity, had to give up when I no longer had a car.

Anniebach Mon 04-Dec-17 03:41:44

3.35 etc, hello Willow,

JaneD3 Mon 04-Dec-17 04:45:44

Morning all! No idea why I am wide awake at this time! New tablets perhaps? Hope you have all dropped off by now.

MawBroon Mon 04-Dec-17 06:58:16

Me too anniebach but my reason was my father’s death as I felt too fragile to be of much use to anybody else and I also found my tolerance of the “time wasters/sexual fantasists” just went out of the window.
Hated the night shifts, being woken up suddenly and having to “click” into full Sam mode. I am sure I fell asleep on some (rambling) callers. But what wonderful people they are!

Anniebach Tue 05-Dec-17 05:48:12

5.35am, later than usual for reflux to play up, only difference is yesterday I drank Ensure vanilla not chocolate! Hope chocolate isn't on the forbidden list, I have bought several slabs Green &and Black to increase calories.

cornergran Tue 05-Dec-17 08:38:54

That sounds better, annie. Fingers crossed chocolate is still on the menu. I find chocolate, particularly hot chocolate, sends me to sleep, not sure about the impact on digestion though. Hope you have a good day.

Anniebach Tue 05-Dec-17 09:03:41

? corngran, I am a crashing bore, obsessed with my calorie intake, must stop rabbiting on about it. When I put on weight my younger daughter has promised me a present , oooh.

Anniebach Wed 06-Dec-17 05:04:45

4.50am, been awake since 3.30am, tried going back to sleep but didn't work so having tea now then rennies, chicken at dinner was rather tough ,fed up of chicken.

cornergran Wed 06-Dec-17 05:24:02

Morning annie. I’m wide awake, no idea why. Will listen to some music. Chicken is about the only meat I enjoy, well that and turkey. Do you like fish? Cooks quickly and if not too oily usually easy on the tummy. Not sure when you have your main meal, is it easier on the digestion if you cook at lunch time? In any case, hope you can drift back to sleep. The dark hours always seem longer don’t they.

Anniebach Wed 06-Dec-17 05:27:52

Morning corngran, I hate fish, eat at six in evening, only piece of chicken , nothing after this. I am getting use to the dark hours now, how are you x

cornergran Wed 06-Dec-17 05:52:06

Shame about the fish. annie, Mr C is the same. Often eat different meals. I’m OK, thank you. I tend to sleep reasonably well for a few nights then have a few with early morning waking. I know pain wakes me but don’t understand why sometimes I can go back to sleep, sometimes not. I try not to worry about it, plug myself in and listen to music. . If I could put the light on I would read a book but as I can’t unless I get up I read via a Kindle app. The iPad is on night setting so a yellow light rather than blue but I’m not convinced it has the same soporific impact as a ‘proper’ book. It keeps my head occupied so it does well enough. We adapt, dont we?

Anniebach Wed 06-Dec-17 09:03:08

We do cornergran x

Day6 Thu 07-Dec-17 02:32:28

<sigh> Sleep won't come. I am wondering if two squares of chocolate, eaten at 10pm with a cuppa (decaf) would act as a stimulant? Why am I not sleepy? <sighs again> I was going to venture over to News and Politics but thought better of it. I could be over there all night. grin

Looks like I'll be resorting to drugs again tonight to get some shut-eye. Prescription ones, I hasten to add, but I don't like taking them because even if they work they make me feel so groggy the next day and I have so much to do tomorrow.

Is the saying 'Between a rock and a hard place'? Is so, I am there. Off to bed with my book. At least my legs will be raised and I'll rest. Himself is snoring his head off so it's the spare room for me tonight.

Good night fellow nocturnal types.

Anniebach Thu 07-Dec-17 03:12:31

3.00am, had more than enough now, stomach really upset , I ate two pieces of fudge yesterday after dinner, big crime, how can I increase calories if just two pieces of fudge can upset so much.

Ginny42 Thu 07-Dec-17 04:43:11

Morning Annie. Just letting you know you're not alone. Sorry you're not feeling well. Has anyone suggested Slippery Elm food? It was always the turn to medicine for upset stomach.

A neighbour's dog barking woke me and I always suspect someone's around to make it bark, so I put the lights on and that's me awake. I woke to find I still had my reading specs on so I must have suddenly fallen into a deep sleep. My DD and GS are visiting and asleep in the house, so I'm not so alone as usual.

morethan2 Thu 07-Dec-17 06:37:33

Morning I woke at 4 this morning but just lay in bed ruminating. It’s not a very healthy thing to do. I always end up with terrifing scenarios rolling through my head. I hope your tummy is better today Anniebach perhaps it was the sugar content. Fudge is really full of the stuff. Frustrating though isn’t it when you can’t put your finger on what’s set your tummy off. I hope your day isn’t too bad.

silverlining48 Thu 07-Dec-17 09:05:06

I woke at 4 this morning, much to think /worry about, par for the course. Try to avoid taking prescribed pills as i only get 14 at a time so need to conserve.
Switched radio on, listened to world service hoping to divert thoughts. Dozed, a bit. Not a lot!
Another day wondering how i can get through it with so little sleep. Zzzzzzzzz

Greyduster Thu 07-Dec-17 09:10:48

I looked at this thread at sometime between four and five when I had been awake since quarter to three for the second night running. You are all lovely people but I don’t want to join you! However, perhaps you would leave the door ajar, just in case........

morethan2 Fri 08-Dec-17 04:36:40

Oh I hope I’m not setting into a pattern of very early waking again. Woke at three and realised it’s useless trying to get back off. It really is a ‘what comes first the chicken or the egg’ situation. Did I wake worried about DiL or did I start worrying about her and that stopped me getting back to sleep. Most of the time we cope by pretending she’s ok. It’s easy because she doesn’t look particularly ill. Then every now and again the realisation of what’s to come hits me like a great big grey cold wave and I feel sick to my stomach. She and the family came to visit tonight and she said somthing in passing that’s sparked off my concern. ...oh well it’ll pass. It usually does. There’s two little uns asleep upstairs So tommorow I’ve got the school run, finish the Christmas shopping so I can take my other grandchildrens presents up to Liverpool on Saturday, go to the dentist, pack a for the trip. I’m tired already.
