Does your car have a name?

Giving a car a nane is cringe-worthy

We did have a car which we called goldie.

When we got a lovely new red Kia with a sun roof, our granddaughter said it looked like Peppa Pigs car, so there you are!

Our car is just "The Car" but the sat-Nav is named Doris - very satisfying to shout "Oh, shut up Doris " when "she" is stating the obvious.

am desperately trying to find a suitable name for my metallic! light blue little car (a skoda)....every name the grandchildren come up with is not suitable for one reason or another! Any inspiration gratefully received.

My lovely old Previa was called Freddie Mercury because he was a deep silvery mercury colour and when he was flying down a motorway he sang like a bird. I just loved him. My current Suzuki is Suzicar. Sweet but there'll never be another Freddie.

Mine is called Toyota Aygo... hahahaha

My parents didn't have a car, but did have scooters - the first two (I was 7 and still remember the registrations) were Millicent and Phoebe (no idea why). Then my dad decided he wanted a more powerful one, a German top of the range Heinkel model (no, I didn't know they'd moved into the 2-wheek sector either), which became Hank. My mum-s first 3-wheeler was a Reliant Robin, which didn't have a name, but then she got a DAF which she wasn't very good at - saw it hopping down the road, so clearly known from then on as Kanga. None of ours ever had names. Funny - don't know why some have names and personalities, others not.

Mrs Murdle (as Lord Peter Whimsey), Edith ( DHs classic sports car named after my mother!), Judy, Red Rover.......etc. Though I’ve just realised the car we have had from new six years ago, has no name! Possibly, due to to little personality, very reliable, no obvious quirks..... I feel quite sad now!

Currently my car is Zelda (short for Grizelda) and husband's is Hattie (short for Henrietta). Both Renault Clios and both names suggested by their numberplates. We've had Clemmy, Alice, Delilah, Purdy, Jemima, Suzy, Olivia and Polly in our time. Only one car, the first VW Spacewagon, remained unnamed.

I remember the first car. She was called Daisy. Days she went and days she didn't.

We have driven Pergula (Peugot)Kitty (when we bought her she had Hello Kitty sticker in window)Clarabelle (claret colour) Silvia (silver colour) Bonny (bought her new and so happy with her) now getting Boris (Tory blue).

My little beauty, a VW UP, is called after its owner, DIDDY1 it is a tiny car, and I have always been little and nicknamed Diddy, so what better name for my car.
We all know what Diddy means dont we?

Mines known as the 'pope mobile' . It's rather narrow and tall,in order to accommodate a wheelchair.

Freddie the Focus - our estate car, now 16 years old and a real workhorse especially when we were building a new house.

Holly the Honda sportscar - used occasionally and certainly not for anything to do with building work or trips to the tip.

Tilly the Matiz - for all short trips and shopping runs.

Mine is called foxy as it is a vw fox

Two generation, two car family. One car is called "Yours" and the other "Mine", or vice versa. I have a designated parking spot so we go in Mine if parking may be a problem on our return. If I am feeling under the weather we go in Yours. We got them insured such that we can each drive both Mine and Yours which has proved to be so useful; my daughter may be out in Mine but Yours is on the street for emergency use.

The Tank. An ageing Hyundai Santa Fe, environmentally unfriendly, I'm afraid, but I don't do a huge mileage. But very useful for hauling stuff around, which is why I got it.

Postman Pat car named by dgc.as it's a boxy red Citroen Picassso,all we need is a black and white cat!

My old car was called 'the pram' because it wouldn't go without push.............I have never loved a car enough to give it a name after her.

My Toyota campervan is called My Van the Terrible. Ususally when something goes wrong with it.

I give other people's cars names too. My friend's is called Rumex. A neighbour's is Sid.

And we always play a game of naming the car in front if its number plate gives us a clue.
