Sorry its late in the day!

Happy birthday Jingle , hope you have had a fantastic day with lots of cake.

maryeliza54 Sun 08-Oct-17 13:30:43

Well you're clearly starting again Notme - and as you clearly don't like the current state of GN then as you say, you're going back to Twitter. You could PM your twitter handle to your friends and supporters on here and they could tweet their birthday wishes to you next year without having a third year of this type of birthday wishes thread

seacliff Sun 08-Oct-17 13:40:38

Honestly, to read this you'd never think that most of us are over 60ish, and hopefully mature adults.

Why not try letting bygones be bygones? Have a fresh start. There are enough threads to avoid anyone you don't like.

Baggs Sun 08-Oct-17 13:41:51

Bloody hell, me54! Wouldn't you defend yourself, and sharply too, after such a barrage of criticism as Jings has just had?

Baggs Sun 08-Oct-17 13:42:21

Well said about bygones.

lemongrove Sun 08-Oct-17 13:47:09

maryeliza you seem to be doing a lot of criticising for somebody who is new and have never come across Jingle before.?
Good post Seacliff

merlotgran Sun 08-Oct-17 13:47:25

I've come on to this thread again mainly to add my support to Notme, Baggs and others who are trying to point out to Imperfect and maryeliza that they are labouring the point.

This thread was started as a kindly birthday greeting and many of us joined in because we missed jingl and would love her to return.

I'm disgusted by the way this thread has been hi-jacked. I have started threads myself in the past year about the injustice of jingl's banning. If you'd voiced your indignation/spite and determination to pour oil on troubled waters on those threads it would have been more fitting.

You've made your point so why don't you just give it a rest?

angry

Anniebach Sun 08-Oct-17 13:53:36

I miss Jingl, but I thought she had been away from the forum for months but wrong, maryeliza remembers her posts

Riverwalk Sun 08-Oct-17 13:58:10

Jings, FFS would you just invent another username and join in, not on a thread about you, so no-one, including HQ, will be alerted and we can just go about business!

We'll soon cotton-on wink

lemongrove Sun 08-Oct-17 13:59:39

I was thinking the same thing Riverwalk

Alima Sun 08-Oct-17 14:00:21

Do you know Annie, I was just thinking the same. Who is she, a lurker or a transitioner. Or maybe on the bandwagon. Only asking.

maryeliza54 Sun 08-Oct-17 14:04:15

I just did a search for Jingle and last years birthday thread popped up at no 1.

Alima Sun 08-Oct-17 14:08:25

So it's the bandwagon then.

TriciaF Sun 08-Oct-17 14:16:47

notme grin
I meant the cliques which sometimes form on forums to support a popular member. I've seen it more than once on here, and on other forums. And it often ends up in unpleasantness.
Neither a leader nor a follower be, that's my nature. Though I usually say when I agree with someone's point of view.

kittylester Sun 08-Oct-17 14:21:05

Someone mentioned hero worship of jings and that bullying is too strong a word for what happened.

I don't hero worship jings but enjoyed her posts despite being annoyed by some of them.

I believe there was some hounding of her initially and yet more when she has been back 'under the radar' i call that bullying.

The thing about 'newbies' is that they don't know anyone else's 'back' story Or the virtual relationships that exist.

A polite newbie would see how things develop rather than rushing in and complaining straight off

I was told my wi analogy was bad - so try this one -walk into the nearest pub when you first move to an area and demand that one of the regulars be banned because they were rude to you.

You'd soon get short shrift.

maryeliza54 Sun 08-Oct-17 14:24:50

Well it's clear from more Jingle threads ( one going back to 2012) that flouncing, pleas for come back, oh wonderful she's back have been going on for years and that several posters who are still on here were fed up with it then and I guess probably still are. Whether it's flouncing or being banned I couldn't care less but clearly it's a long running saga that is tedious and boring and attention seeking so I'll just leave you to it. Perhaps there could be a Jingle thread under Religion/Spirituality

Jane10 Sun 08-Oct-17 14:26:52

Good point kittylester!

grannyactivist Sun 08-Oct-17 14:27:28

glass, so sorry your very well intentioned post has gone in a direction you could never have anticipated. flowers

Riverwalk Sun 08-Oct-17 14:34:39

Maryeliza unless you're an old member who's changed names, I don't know why you would find jings' history 'tedious and boring'.

Assuming you're a recent member, why are you so bothered by her past?

petra Sun 08-Oct-17 14:43:30

Maryeliza
I'm sensing a little bit of the green eyed monster eminating from your posts in regard to jings popularity.

ninathenana Sun 08-Oct-17 14:44:48

Well said Riverwalk

Luckygirl Sun 08-Oct-17 15:01:25

TBH I used to ignore threads that had jings on them, as I felt life was too short for aggro and her comments were seldom to my taste - and it is after all, as an online forum, something to take or leave as one chooses. So I made my choices, just as we all do.

HQ seldom takes the step of banning someone, so I presume that something unacceptable was said.

Birthday wishes have been sent - that is fine. End of!

Baggs Sun 08-Oct-17 15:09:29

Would that it were only birthday wishes ?

Chewbacca Sun 08-Oct-17 15:50:19

Why would anyone, especially a new member, take so much time and trouble to trawl back 3 years to see what threads have been opened about Jings? Why such over investment in a poster on an anonymous forum? I never knew Jings and so have no axe to grind one way or the other but I'm taken aback that maryeliza54 has spent such a huge amount of time researching someone that she can't possibly have had any personal interaction with if she's the new member she says she is. A bit creepy isn't it? hmm

Anniebach Sun 08-Oct-17 15:58:23

This is why I asked how long since Jings left , maryeliza - I so remember - joined after Rigsby left , I made the mistake of calling her Rigsby and she was really cross said she would report me .

Chewbacca Sun 08-Oct-17 16:04:29

Well I've been here about 1 year now Annie and I don't remember seeing Jings when I first joined. I do remember Rigby64 though but she/he suddenly vanished earlier this year after a series of rather "odd" posts. Why would you get reported for making a genuine mistake about a posters identity? There's some odd folk about! grin
