Happy birthday Jingle , hope you have had a fantastic day with lots of cake.

Elitism -Is it to do with how frequently someone expresses their views, with how well/strongly they express their views? Or something else?

A good point Baggs. I have to agree.

This is a thread about Jingle, who was here before I joined I believe, but from what I have read, I think I'd like her.

I think it was nightowl who mentioned she has the 'ability to cut through the crap' (apologies if it was another poster) and I quite appreciate people like that - on message boards and in face to face conversation.

I can imagine it might ruffle feathers if you see it as aggressive rather than straight-talking, so yes, this so called 'bullying' might be about perception?

I am not a terribly fluffy or sugary poster but others are, and that's ok. I don't come here to be 'liked' either - it's nice to be liked though - but that's not my aim in posting. Again, perhaps that is important to some people and they see a difference of opinion as a rejection, rudeness or a rebuff maybe?

Just thinking out loud.

Yes, I've missed Jalima too (waves). If she comes back with another name, can somebody please drop me a clue (I sometimes think I live in my own little world).

Jane10 Sun 08-Oct-17 17:45:04

Yoo Hoo Jalima come back soon!

Chewbacca Sun 08-Oct-17 17:44:02

I had the same thought petra.

Chewbacca Sun 08-Oct-17 17:42:43

Jalima will be back very soon. She's able to read the posts on GN but not able to post. waves to Jalima

Maggiemaybe Sun 08-Oct-17 17:34:22

She outed herself earlier in the thread, Ana. I was glad to see her, as I had missed her posts lately (and I'm not very observant!).

TriciaF Sun 08-Oct-17 17:33:29

Well, I'm way out of touch. I thought lemongrove was Jalima in new guise.

Ana Sun 08-Oct-17 17:28:36

O dear - are you sure Lemongrove wanted to be outed like that...?

Anniebach Sun 08-Oct-17 17:28:34

I suppose that was why I used the wrong name Petra

petra Sun 08-Oct-17 17:14:42

anniebach
The abrasive and combative style reminded me of someone but I couldn't place it.
I'll leave it at that.

Jane10 Sun 08-Oct-17 17:07:34

I suppose I get fed up being told what a forum should be like and resent being told how to 'behave'. Maybe I'll disappear and come back as newjings!

Jane10 Sun 08-Oct-17 17:05:17

Oh that's nice. Hello lemongrove!

Anniebach Sun 08-Oct-17 16:53:51

Thank you, I missed the start of the thread , that is good news

TerriBull Sun 08-Oct-17 16:50:31

Annie, Roses hasn't left, just changed her name, further back in this thread it was revealed that she is now lemongrove smile

Anniebach Sun 08-Oct-17 16:14:55

Chewbacca, Rigsby vanished after sending PM's telling posters to ignores Rosesarered but made the error of sending it to Rosesarered too, I miss rosesarered ?, anyway I have never been great with names, no idea why I said Rigsby not maryeliza, she was furious, I did apologise . Jingle was not posting when maryeliza joined I am sure

MargaretX Sun 08-Oct-17 16:11:12

To remember Jings you have also to remember Greatnan, who was killed in a mountain accident and left us all feeling very sad. Those GN days were far superior to today we had real discussions and there was so much to discuss on line and a lot of us were new to computers anyway.
If Jings came back and actually reading most posts why should she, she couldn't alter anything. GN has developed and will continue on its downward trend.
When ever I feel like entering a political discussion I am disgusted at the tone of the arguments and I think that is how most on line Forums will develop or have already developed.

And now I'm over the 'What are you reading now? Thats a safe polite place to be.

Chewbacca Sun 08-Oct-17 16:04:29

Well I've been here about 1 year now Annie and I don't remember seeing Jings when I first joined. I do remember Rigby64 though but she/he suddenly vanished earlier this year after a series of rather "odd" posts. Why would you get reported for making a genuine mistake about a posters identity? There's some odd folk about! grin

Anniebach Sun 08-Oct-17 15:58:23

This is why I asked how long since Jings left , maryeliza - I so remember - joined after Rigsby left , I made the mistake of calling her Rigsby and she was really cross said she would report me .

Chewbacca Sun 08-Oct-17 15:50:19

Why would anyone, especially a new member, take so much time and trouble to trawl back 3 years to see what threads have been opened about Jings? Why such over investment in a poster on an anonymous forum? I never knew Jings and so have no axe to grind one way or the other but I'm taken aback that maryeliza54 has spent such a huge amount of time researching someone that she can't possibly have had any personal interaction with if she's the new member she says she is. A bit creepy isn't it? hmm

Baggs Sun 08-Oct-17 15:09:29

Would that it were only birthday wishes ?

Luckygirl Sun 08-Oct-17 15:01:25

TBH I used to ignore threads that had jings on them, as I felt life was too short for aggro and her comments were seldom to my taste - and it is after all, as an online forum, something to take or leave as one chooses. So I made my choices, just as we all do.

HQ seldom takes the step of banning someone, so I presume that something unacceptable was said.

Birthday wishes have been sent - that is fine. End of!

ninathenana Sun 08-Oct-17 14:44:48

Well said Riverwalk

petra Sun 08-Oct-17 14:43:30

Maryeliza
I'm sensing a little bit of the green eyed monster eminating from your posts in regard to jings popularity.

Riverwalk Sun 08-Oct-17 14:34:39

Maryeliza unless you're an old member who's changed names, I don't know why you would find jings' history 'tedious and boring'.

Assuming you're a recent member, why are you so bothered by her past?

grannyactivist Sun 08-Oct-17 14:27:28

glass, so sorry your very well intentioned post has gone in a direction you could never have anticipated. flowers
