Good luck, aggie. I first met soop when she was in hospital for a hip op. .she brought me a watercolour portrait she had painted from a photograph of my grandson. The photo was taken at a milestone in his young life: when he first had his hair washed in the bath as a toddler without screaming the house down! I credit my son-out-law with the skill of talking him through it carefully beforehand and during. Son-out-law's dad almost cried when he saw the picture, it was that good and had captured Littlun's expression perfectly.

soop told me she had only painted two portraits of people previously. Her talent, therefore, is awesome.

Baggs I remember the moment you walked into my private room (thanks to my case being delayed for whatever reason)...it was a wonderful first meeting. We hit if off immediately. Do you remember the very charming surgeon? He was a real sport.

Another day almost done! The depression has slowed me down at times. I decided to give the kitchen a thorough clean-up this afternoon. Where does all the fluff that collects in the cutlery drawer come from! It's a mystery. I'm not really sure that it matters in the big scheme of things. Famine, persecution, war...these things matter. If I could I would try to make a difference. All that we can do is count our blessings and be kind to each other.

Youve put me to shame with your kitchen clean soop, don't ask how long I've been meaning to clean out the cutlery drawer. .

Well, 8am hospital appointment was a doddle, free parking space in the road outside and in and out in minutes. Then off for a cooked breakfast on the sea front and a short walk. Nothing to complain about there. Late this afternoon it took nearly 20 minutes to find a space in the hospital car park which then relieved us of £3.50 on leaving. Definitely prefer early appointments .

In between did the food shop and tried to sort some financial stuff on line, think I did it, time will tell. Definitely the most frustrating part of the day which I must continue tomorrow. . Will keep me quiet anyway.

Welcome Jamison - we like to think that we have a sense of humour here but we are also very caring as and when necessary.

soop if you are in the mood maybe you would fancy tackling this entire house? I remember before I got married having my worldly belongings in a couple of suitcases. I am sure if I owned or lived in a 15 bedroom house, every room would look "lived in". My parents were the opposite, when they died there was hardly anything to sort apart from clothes. All the paperwork was in a couple of drawers.

Mr Baggs says oil paintings are never finished, merely abandoned (quoting that da Vinci chappie ?). I'll get him to send me a pic for you. Sleep tight tonight and I hope you, and other Kitcheners who are a bit low, feel better tomorrow.

Aggie that's the way to do it (With apologies to Mr Punch!) No time to think about anything other than packing your hospital bag with some biscuits and good books. I know several people who've had hip ops and all have nothing but praise for the difference it's made to their lives. Will be thinking of you

Not sure there's much we can do in the big scheme of things soop so I try when I can with things closer to home. You, however, do help. A lot. From the time I joined GN (the kitchen was my first post) you have always been there with a kind comment and thoughtful message for all who needed support. Plus a wonderful sense of humour to cheer things along. Do not make light of the importance of your kitchen soop. Many a weary soul has come in for comfort. You deserve a big hug and all our thanks.?

Hope all goes well for your op aggie, not much time to get your mind around it all but then not too much time for fretting in advance either.
I had an unexpected surprise today. What I thought would be just a quick coffee squeezed into a dd’s busy working day turned into a lovely lunch and a rare chance to have a proper catch up - just the 2 of us, such a treat.
That cartoon was spot on Maw, showed to my daughter while her dog was desperately trying to squeeze herself in between us on the sofa this afternoon! That dog doesn’t do subtle.
