ann thank you. I picked up a different lurgy on Monday. dizziness and vomiting. If anybody had rung the doorbell they would have stayed there because I could not get that far.

I am definitely better and booked an on line hair appointment for this pm and I have just returned. No curries at present, I am living on a light diet (for me).

Thank you for asking-luckily that was the day that the tiler decided to DNA because I would have had problems coping.

Sorry but you will hear my virtual dulcet tones again!

kittylester Wed 04-Oct-17 16:17:28

Crumbs, so do I Ann.

I think she meets at least one other gner occasionally, does anyone know who it is?

Baggs Wed 04-Oct-17 16:19:57

Oo-er, rotten luck, charley! I trust you are feeling a lot better if still below par.

I hope everyone else's coughs and colds are succumbing to the efforts of their immune systems too. Mine is on full alert now: it looks as if I'm in for the winter phenomenon of a virus a fortnight. Hey ho. My system does deal with them fairly well but it's still a drag.

Galen Wed 04-Oct-17 16:34:01

Charlie how do you get your hair done on line? I have to have a hairdresser present.
Incidentally, Cunard charge $70 just to put hair up into a French pleat. Does not include wash and dry?

annsixty Wed 04-Oct-17 16:40:25

So pleased you're OK charley but sorry you and others have succumbed. I hope you all feel better soon.
Galen's comment reminds me of "ears pierced while you wait".?

soop Wed 04-Oct-17 16:59:08

jollyg Snap! A good person with a good heart and a good husband.

Swanny Wed 04-Oct-17 17:02:30

Baggs and Charleyg I'm sending healing vibes in your direction. I did some ironing earlier. Had to sit down several times. Legs felt like knitting. MacS and I have been muttering...we shall overcome...wink

Galen I would dress your hair in a French pleat for $60 and a large G&T.

Charleygirl Wed 04-Oct-17 17:17:32

Galen I only booked an appointment on line-did not have my hair done on line.

soop Wed 04-Oct-17 17:33:21

Oh dear. It never rains but it pours. Our close friend in the village is trying to sort out her mother's belongings in Glasgow. Mother has been living in our friend's apartment and has been having round the clock care. We've just heard that Mother has been taken to Oban hospital with yet another suspected stroke.

Until tomorrow. Get well messages to all who need lots of TLC. I shall catch up with you tomorrow. smile moon

MawBroon Wed 04-Oct-17 21:36:16

There are some (too many !) people out there who need our prayers and positive vibes.
Get well soon, all who are poorly or caring for poorly people.
Can’t have you all down with the lurgy - who will man the barricades in the kitchen? ??????

annsixty Wed 04-Oct-17 21:45:25

I'm pretty healthy Maw I will look after things here and send chicken soup to all who need it.
I do hope they are not famous last words.
You all have so many physical things to deal with that my blaspheming under my breath, as I do all day, is nothing to worry about.
Long phone chat this evening to a friend has restored my equilibrium and all is well with me.
A G&T and a glass or two of Pinot Grigio with a roast chicken dinner also helped.

cornergran Wed 04-Oct-17 22:02:25

So far no lurgy here, just post Littlest exhaustion. We've been in the GP surgery a lot in the last few days for non-lurgy things, bound to have caught something, watch this space hmm!!.

A lot of poorly people, though, take care everyone and be kind to yourselves. I didn't sleep Sunday and Monday mawb, have no idea how you are so active with so many disturbed nights, I'm a real zombie this evening

A neighbour couple died last week, one expected, one not. We will go to their funerals next week, many sad people here

I've a file containing among other recipes some from both my Mum and mother in law. Their writing and margin comments (like beat very hard - I can only assume the cake was the intended victim) always impact me so I can understand greyd, its the seemingly little things that can trigger deep emotion

No Autumn garden tidy here yet. Mr C is getting there but not enough to do some digging and plant moving which is beyond me, so I lurk with the secateurs waiting to pounce while he does the heavy stuff

Eyes are heavy now, so hoping for an untroubled night. Take care everyone.

MawBroon Wed 04-Oct-17 22:13:09

Cornergran that sounds very sad, but perhaps not? Possibly devastating for their family though.
I know my Scottish grandparents died within a few days of each other, my GF the night after Granny’s funeral (ostensibly not knowing she was dead although the nursing staff in the hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia said he just took a turn for the worse and gave up fighting it ) sad

cornergran Wed 04-Oct-17 23:21:06

We also think probably not so sad for them mawb. Haven't spoken with any family members but have been told they are finding it very difficult.

Meant to say before how pleased I am for you that you saw your grandson ann, but can understand hard to know your husband was unaware.

Well, I should be asleep. I'm so tired I can't move but the eyes won't close. Will try some relaxation stuff in hope.

NanaandGrampy Thu 05-Oct-17 08:51:26

Good Morning all !

I did chuckle at the description of your shopping trip kitty !! Will there be a second go at it?

Yes, they are resigned smile Grannie, and in fact in some ways looking forward to it. I think it will take some time to get used to on all sides but with effort it will be workable . We only see the oldest 2 grandchildren twice a month now they are so buy with school and after school clubs and the 2 youngest have a busy lives now too and even swimming lessons on a Sunday. So we shall see less pop ins and more whole weekends I suspect.

Hope you and Macs are feeling a little better soop?

I can see you now Callgirl with a bow perched precariously on top of your head ! It would say a lot about you ;-)

Oh no Swanny did I miss all the croissants and apricot jam????? They are something I miss most on this damn diet !! BUT on a good note, at weight in last night I got my 1 stone sticker !!! Funny how at my age they reward you with a sticker ???smile

Sorry to hear you went down with a bug too charley but glad to hear you're feeling a bit better .

Its raining cats and dogs here so a day indoors is in order. To celebrate my weight loss, I have purchased a crusty loaf, real butter and very large eggs and I am having a breakfast celebration of boiled eggs and soldiers !!!

I thought I would miss sweet things the most but no---its white crusty bread !!

Get well soon everyone !!

MawBroon Thu 05-Oct-17 08:54:57

Nanaandgrampy 1 STONE??
That is FANTASTIC! ???
You must have been very very good and I take my ? off to you.
Well done!

Swanny Thu 05-Oct-17 10:30:31

Congratulations N&G on the milestone weight loss smile and your celebration breakfast sounds delicious. There's just something special about boiled eggs and soldiers, or 'dippy bread' as DGS calls it. Sorry you missed the croissants, they were delicious ...

Greyduster Thu 05-Oct-17 10:49:13

N&G! RESPECT! And they only gave you a sticker? Disgusting! Us lot knew that you could do it!
corner I hope you manage to catch up with your rest. You too Maw. Not being able to sleep grinds you down eventually, especially if it is things on your mind that are keeping you awake.
I thought I would post a picture of the rampaging nasturtium I referred to in my post on Tuesday. It seems to have rampaged even further! It is getting Amazonian out there! Where's me pith helmet and machete? Back later if I come out alive!

MawBroon Thu 05-Oct-17 11:09:13

Fortunately it’s not things on my mind waking me up, it’s helping Paw through to the loo . It MIGHT only be once or twice but lately it’s been 4 or more between him going to bed around 8 and 8 the next morning.
This too shall pass (maybe)

soop Thu 05-Oct-17 13:06:02

Good afternoon dear Granspals. Methinks it may be a tad chilly outside. There is a stiff wind and the waves are white-capped. It has been a very long time since we last went for a daily walkabout. I've a feeling that by the beginning of next week we may resume normal practices.

N&G Wow! A stone, hey? WELL done. You deserve to go to the top of the class.

Greyduster I couldn't possibly chop the nasturtium down. It's beautiful. It's colourful. If I could, I'd beg a cutting or two.

Maw interrupted sleep can wear the spirit to a frazzle. This too will pass. I remind myself of this throughout tough times. It helps. flowers

ann I also meant to say that I'm pleased that your grandson visited. If your husband felt relaxed, then that was a bonus.

NanaandGrampy Thu 05-Oct-17 16:40:35

Thank you all. Its been hard won but I am quietly pleased and my celebratory egg and soldiers with proper bread and butter was delicious !!

I am now looking down the sleep slope for that 2nd stone but we have had great news today and I wanted to share it with you all - we have exchanged contracts and move in 2 weeks (apparently).

So there is much excitement here and our children and their families will be joining us shortly to celebrate. They kindly suggested there was no point in taking ALL that alcohol with us .....kindness indeed !!! xxx

Galen Thu 05-Oct-17 16:53:38

Maw
Could he not manage with a bottle or bedside commode?

Greyduster Thu 05-Oct-17 17:05:06

I will raise a glass to you this evening, N&G - a great weight off your mind, I'm sure, and an adventure to look forward to!

aggie Thu 05-Oct-17 17:08:28

N&G brilliant news on both fronts smile

Maw lack of sleep , or interrupted sleep is torture ! We seem to be sleeping all night here , but I have been told to leave the back door open and the back gate , as OH is planning his escape confused he wouldn't tell me where to , but seems I am in on the escape ...... sigh
