The yoof of today...

We named our youngest daughter after the child in the Tom Paxton song 'Katie'...

Oh, I have a little daughter, and my daughter's name is Kate.
And she's every bit mischievous as a kitten on a skate.
With a bandage on her forehead and the bruises on her knees,
You would swear she'd fought with buccaneers on all the seven seas.
For its up the stairs and down the stairs and in the room and out.
Like a miniature tornado, she can blow the house about.
Take an angel with the devil in the twinkling of her eye,
And that's my Katy, little lady, and I love her.

I too remember the words to Delaney's Donkey (it had "a leg at every corner balancing its head and a tail to let you know which end it wanted to be fed"!). Ditto Paddy McGinty's Goat! But I can't remember what we had for dinner yesterday!

Maybe all is not lost though. I've just remembered driving two of our DGDs to a wedding where they were going to be bridesmaids. They entertained us then finally drove us mad with endless renditions of Show Me The Way to Amarillo!

DH's nephew was here at the weekend and as we were reminiscing about how his sister used to sit on her swing and sing for hours, and he would play 'The Laughing Policeman' on an old wind up gramophone. As our gardens backed onto each other they were almost a permanent fixture. Happy days.

I remember the words of hymns, I was brought up a Methodist girl and we enjoyed a good sing in chapel.

The above posts are a total mystery to me?

I still remember the words to 'Hello Muddah, Hello Fuddah' which I used to sing to the DGCs when they were small. They would join in with, 'Take meeeeeeee home, Oh muddah, fuddah' and we'd all fall about laughing.

I wonder what they'll sing to their children? At least they'll be able to mug up the words on You Tube.
