Well, I have one close friend of many years who lives quite near me, but we don't see each other as often as I'd like as she leads a busier life than I do at the moment. We talk on the phone more often than we see each other, which is not ideal, but we manage lunch every couple of months. But apart from her, most of our friends live some distance away and we don't get together that often these days. To be honest, although I am a sociable old bird, I wouldn't like to have a too many people to keep up with. gilly I hope you will count me among your online friends. We joined GN about the same time although I had a break for a while and came back in another incarnation. You are a Gransnet stalwart!

No loopyloo, I'm up in N Yorkshire. I know that some people don't mind going to the theatre on their own but I don't think I would feel comfortable doing that.

Arty fatty, do you live near London? I have a OH who snoozes too.

Different strokes for different folks, I have several friends some I see often and others not so but good friends nonetheless.

I also am one without friends, so just one to meet up now and then would be nice.

I've never been one for having loads of friends but preferred to have two or three close ones. I would like one who likes to go to the theatre occasionally as DH always falls asleep and it is a very expensive nap!

Nina, I have just read this and your response was exactly mine. To Gillybob, we are your friends on here, and are with you through thick and thin. Easy to say I know, when you are going through such a hard time, but I hope that like prayer, our thoughts sent to you through 'the ether' reach you. Many hugs.

You have several 'vertual friends' gilly Though I know that's just not the same sad
My two friends both live some distance away one I see 2-3 times a year the other about every 5-6 wks. I do text both two, three times a week. So I have nobody to accompany me to the things Chewbacca mentions. I have H but it's good to have female company sometimes.

I haven't got any friends so even one would be nice . smile

If at all possible; one absolute bestie that you share everything with and then a couple of others that you can go out to the cinema, walks, theatres or art galleries with.

I've never had several so I can't compare. So my my two cents worth of advice is the more the merrier!

Which do you think is best. To have several friends to do different things with or just one 'bestie' to do everything with?
